A Way Forward For Democrats

Democrats need to mount an all out assault on Trump. It should be multi pronged and relentless.

(a) All 24 democratic presidential candidates should keep offering an alternative vision of America and relentlessly contrast their visions with what Trump has to offer.

(b) Each of the candidates should make an issue of his/or her fealty to the rule of law.

(c) the Democratic House should keep passing legislation (none of which will go anywhere given the Senate and Trump would need to agree. Heck most of this "action" won't even get covered on a day to day basis.)

These are the easy parts, that Democrats are already doing and should keep doing.

Parts (d) - (f) below are what can take our struggle to another level:

(d) The House should stop slow walking the question of impeachment and mount a full on, no holds bar impeachment inquiry, with televised hearings and the whole works, with the goal of putting before the American people, the question: Is this what you expect out of an American President. They should hammer at this question through the summer.

(e) When articles of impeachment pass the House and go to the Senate, sometimes in the fall, Democrats must stand up, make the case clearly and forcefully for Trump's Conviction and Removal from office.

(f) If in the likely eventuality that Trump is not convicted and removed from office due to Republican intransigence, all potential Democratic nominees for President must make a Federal Case, as it were, of the Senate's abject failure. They must not hold out any kind of olive branch to the Republicans, to Trump, to Trumps supporters. Instead they must promise the American people that once elected, he or she will see to it that the former president will finally be brought to the bar of justice and made to answer for his many crimes.

Yes this is a strategy for confrontation rather than reconciliation. Yes it risk "mobilizing" Trumps base and causing the Republicans to clutch even tighter to one another.

But it is also a strategy for making clear the stakes and for fully mobilizing the forces of opposition. Can't see that any other strategy has even a ghost of a chance of succeeding.

You ever seen an election that wasn't a referendum on an incumbent president? If you seen a candidate to replace such a president just ignore the incumbent president?

6. Don't misstate my point, I have not said ignore him, but do NOT make his name #1 of everything

7. I like your suggestions, especially making a point of referencing rule of law. We all know

there are real Christians and fake Christians; real Muslims and fake ones. Most people never think about there being real Americans and fake ones. Understanding and respecting rule of law is necessary to being a real American. Advocating for a tyrant who destroys the constitution's intent to curb tyranny is anti American. It would appear that many GOP voters are unaware that they are enabling despotism, which is unamerican. They think a strongman is superamerican. It would be good to work some teaching into the campaign speeches.

Sounds like a good response to the DNC emails that come frequently as the campaign continues.
