I just watched "Watch on the Rhine" on TCM.

What a movie. I had no idea that it even existed until I watched it. Made in 1943 it reminded me of "Casablanca" (1942) somewhat in its anti-fascist theme. It took place however in the late '30s between the wars and right after the Spanish Civil War.

Bette Davis again displays what a great actor she was. Paul Lukas plays her husband who is in the German underground. He moves the family to the US to his wife's family's home for a respite and to further his work but are found out by a Nazi sympathizer.

It's well worth watching if you run into it.

and discovering films I didn't know about. I recorded it and made sure I didn't delete it. And yes, Lucille Taylor played the hell out of her role. I liked how her character grasped the situation as the story unfolded and the blackmailer/sympathizer was exposed.
