Fox News anchor Bret Baier noted on Wednesday that a statement made by special counsel Robert Mueller appeared to be the “exact opposite” of spin that Attorney General William Barr put on the Russia investigation report.

In a brief statement, Mueller explained that the special counsel’s office could not provide evidence exonerating President Donald Trump on allegations of obstruction of justice.

Baier reacted to Mueller’s remarks by pointing out that Barr had spun the report in favor of the president.

“I was struck by the tone and tenor of the remarks as he laid out his case wrapping up this report,” the Fox News anchor explained. “This was not as the president says time and time again no collusion, no obstruction. It was much more nuanced than that.”

“He said they couldn’t find evidence on the collusion part of the investigation of the Trump campaign,” Baier said. “He said if they had found that the president did not commit a crime on obstruction, they would have said that.”
