The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.

Mueller's statement today was just another step on the road. Maybe the journey began with the commissioning of the Steele Dossier, maybe earlier.

In a remarkably clear manner, he said that he has finished his 'step'; he found evidence of criminal conduct and explained why he could not prosecute this conduct.

"The Department’s written opinion explaining the policy makes several important points that further informed our handling of the obstruction investigation. Those points are summarized in our report, and I will describe two of them for you. First, the opinion explicitly permits the investigation of a sitting President because it is important to preserve evidence while memories are fresh and documents available. Among other things, that evidence could be used if there were co-conspirators who could be charged now. And second, the opinion says that the Constitution requires a process other than the criminal justice system to formally accuse a sitting President of wrong doing. And beyond Department policy we were guided by principles of fairness. It would be unfair to potentially — it would be unfair to potentially accuse somebody of a crime when there can be no court resolution of the actual charge."

But he clearly laid out the next step. A "process other than the criminal justice system".

I don't think it's a coincidence that the numbers have come out about the Democrats in the house who support impeachment. They were twenty eight this morning (AEST), later on the NYT are reporting 40.

The next step may be that voters need to start convincing their representatives to support impeachment. Then, when the Judiciary Committee begins their preliminary hearings, they do so with the support of a majority in the house. That's still a few steps down the road.

Pelosi, Mueller, Nadler - they've all handled this perfectly so far. Democracy will emerge even stronger because they're following the process - the path - to impeachment and removal.

The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.

The gop is so anxious to put this entire episode behind them, it causes suspicion. How many have read an unredacted Mueller report, or is Barr keeping it under wraps? That report obviously contains material damaging to this so-called "president". We deserve to know the TRUTH. As it stands, we are speculating as to what is in the report. The actions of McConnell, Graham and the Faux "news reporters" make it appear that it is even worse than we are imagining. At this point NOTHING would surprise me.

have read the un-redacted Mueller report, or the grand jury testimony, or the counterintelligence report done by the FBI. All of that information should have been provided to Congress months ago.

The journey begins with 1 step, but there are 2 paths to choose from.
