It looks as though we are about to "go gentle into that BAD night". The PTB are obviously
big fans of the Dark Ages. They have their castles, their treasure, their pleasure barges and their mercenary "palace guards". They care for the vast population of peons only as is necessary to insure a supply of servants and an easily-gulled mob that can be used against anyone who dares challenge their absolute right to do ad they damn well please.
We know their intent as their colossal arrogance has at last permitted them to exit the oligarch/fascist closet in which prior more courageous citizens had forced them to fester in silence.
And, as they drag our democracy toward the abyss----we are mostly watching, apparently mesmerized by their sheer audacity.
Hunker down and watch your back because no one else is.

It's everyone for themselves. They're aware of climate change, wealth imbalance, resource etc and they have decided that it's in THEIR best interests to grab what they can and let everyone else suffer.
Why not? They of course are the best and brightest after all - and deserve what they've "earned". Why give it a away to the masses? Won't do any good anyway..... 
So build the mansions all over the world - so just in case so they can bug out wherever. Keep the machine going to suck up all that wealth, etc Build that security. Lock everyone else out - hire your own police force, gated community security guards, etc. More campaign anyone?
In the end though - they're still building on thinking that the "security" of civilization relies on money and force - which is does only until the illusion is breached and the fact that there's a LOT more of the "other people" than than there are of them.
