https://www.mediaite.com/donald-trump/wh-reportedly-didnt-invite-turned-away-uss-john-s-mccain-sailors-from-potus-rally-on-warship/Two Navy sailors, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly, said that the McCain sailors were not invited to hear Mr. Trump speak that day aboard the amphibious assault ship Wasp, while sailors from other American warships at the base were. One Navy sailor said that McCain sailors wearing their ships patches were even turned away from the presidents address.
The Times story follows up on an earlier Wall Street Journal article that reported, in preparation for Trumps trip to see the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, the White House made several requests to shield the president from encountering the namesake of his political nemesis, the recently deceased Sen. John S. McCain. The warship was named after the late senators father and grandfather, who were both US Navy admirals. Trump has since denied any knowledge about the requests, which White House officials have confirmed.

The Times story adds another layer of snubbing to the story. The Journal had previously reported that USS McCain sailors had been given the day off, but it made no mention of these more active measures being taken to protect Trump from seeing McCains name.

How in the world can any service people support this cretin who consistently belittles the sacrifices and dedication our soldiers, sailors, airmen/women and coast guard personnel provide to us U.S. citizens?
It baffles me.

The same way that evangelicals support the man who epitomizes their values? The same way farmers support the man that is bankrupting their farms? The same way the rural poor support the man who is gutting Affordable Care and Medicaid?
The "military" will have a handy list of excuses why they're back voting R in 2020. They always do.

(15,696 posts)Trump will never stop attacking the ghost of McCain.
And according to Carter, it still does.
"Like so many bullies, Trump has skin of gossamer," Carter wrote in November.
"To this day, I receive the occasional envelope from Trump. There is always a photo of himgenerally a tear sheet from a magazine. On all of them he has circled his hand in gold Sharpie in a valiant effort to highlight the length of his fingers," Carter wrote. "I almost feel sorry for the poor fellow because, to me, the fingers still look abnormally stubby."
"The most recent offering arrived earlier this year, before his decision to go after the Republican presidential nomination," Carter continued. "Like the other packages, this one included a circled hand and the words, also written in gold Sharpie: 'See, not so short!' I sent the picture back by return mail with a note attached, saying, 'Actually, quite short

Reportedly, naval high-ups countermanded the tarping and moving out of sight of the U.S.S. McCain, but apparently it was too late to undo the callous abuse of the McCain's personnel.
