AOC Calls for Ban on Revolving Door as Study Shows Two-Thirds of Recently Departed Lawmakers

AOC Calls for Ban on Revolving Door as Study Shows Two-Thirds of Recently Departed Lawmakers Now K Street Lobbyists

From the article:

In a tweet, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) said that former members of Congress "shouldn't be allowed to turn right around and leverage your service for a lobbyist check."
"I don't think it should be legal at ALL to become a corporate lobbyist if you've served in Congress," said Ocasio-Cortez. "At minimum there should be a long wait period."

And to extend the logic further, retired high ranking military officers should be forbidden to accept positions with defense contractors as well.

We have no right to interfere with someone's right to get a job if it is legal, gainful employment.

The proper way to deal with it is cut way back on military spending and pass laws that limit the effect of lobbyists.

Her heart is in the right place. I just think you have to be careful HOW you accomplish what you want to see happen.

was a member of the House Transportation subcommittee for many years.

After he decided not to run, and gave the job to his son, he immediately became a lobbyist for a railroad. This is a way for former Congress members to exploit their relationships with current members.
