La. Gov. Bobby Jindal asks President Obama for more Tropical Storm Isaac aid

(AP) WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama declared a state of emergency in Louisiana on Monday as that state and others along the Gulf Coast prepared for Tropical Storm Isaac.

The White House said Obama informed Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal of the emergency declaration in a phone call. The declaration makes federal support available to save lives, protect public health and safety and preserve property in coastal areas.

Jindal, a Republican, shot back late Monday in a letter to the Obama administration that the declaration fell short of the help he was requesting.

"We appreciate your response to our request and your approval," Jindal wrote. "However, the state's original request for federal assistance ... included a request for reimbursement for all emergency protective measures. The federal declaration of emergency only provides for direct federal assistance."

Thank FOX News, the Teabillies, and Ron Paul.

Take Mitt's advice and get a loan from your parents.

Privatized emergency relief would be much more efficient anyways.

There are a "thousand points of light" just waiting to help you out.

"Big government" would just bungle it anyway.

Most of the help would probably go toward "lazy" food stamp recipients.

Perhaps all those disaster victims should have saved for a rainy day like "most" good citizens do?

This is a matter best handled by the "job creators".

I gotta ask. Why is the former "rising star of the GOP" asking for aid? Doesn't he know that we are flat broke?

You plan on taxing normal folks at 30% to pay for it while the Tycoons reap in tax free capital gains?

I heard BP has a big footprint down there. They love the Gulf Coast. They say so on TV. Are they gonna help? Are those wonderful, trustworthy, "just hand us the combination to the vault", CEOs of our major financial institutions going to lend a hand? After all, they know what is best for the country. Maybe Bain will toss in a few coins to show their "patriotism"? Isn't it all in the spirit of "Citizens United"?

Of Course President Obama is going to help that "Red" state he has no chance of winning.

Why?

Because it is what good Americans do. They help folks in need.

The GOP only wants welfare for the 1%.

Ayn Rand was like that. Complaining about how little Social Security she was receiving.

This reminds of a rude Republican prick I worked for a few years ago. A worthy story so keep reading:

He had right wing hate speech from AM radio constantly blaring during the course of a remodel project I was hired to help on. Didn't allow anyone to change the station. Not even to music. All day long a nightmare of non-stop Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage, Sean Hannity, Dr. Laura to name a few.

This idiot would complain about the "lazy immigrants from Mexico" and "how them immigrants was ruining the country for everyone".

Yet his full time carpenter was from Mexico. Only paid this very competent man some $10 bucks an hour. In other words our Republican was exploiting the very same immigrants he declared were "lowering wages for the rest of us real Americans".

The guy made me sick let me tell ya but I needed the money so I kept the peace.

OK so his final ultimate hypocrisy was the day he asked me to take the ladder and go up on the roof of the house. Normally second story work is not part of the trade I'm generally expected to do.

So as I rise up the side of the house towards roof he explains:

"Thanks! I was worried that my social worker might drive by, see me both working and climbing a ladder and then cancel my disability payments"

First time in my life I seriously considered busting someone for trying to receive social program benefits.

Christ the guy was LOADED and his wife was even richer...

Then on my last day at work he called to tell me that I was fired and that he wasn't paying me the 30% left over I'd earned.
