All the talk about bringing Iran back to the negotiating table misses on huge point. The Iranians did not walk away from the table. Trump did.
Even our news media is falling for the BS. We (pushed by Saudi Arabia and Israel) are the direct cause of this current situation and our media is going along.
And our allies will be reluctant to go along with our BS

(16,070 posts)...and they forget!!!
The CIA and the US military lied about what happened in the Gulf of Tonkin...and I believe they're doing the same thing with Iran!!!
US intelligence agencies and the US military have lied to before, the Gulf of Tonkin...and who can forget about Colin Powell with his vial of white powder and pictures of vehicles used to support weather balloons, that he claimed were mobile anthrax labs...making his speech at the UN!
And the American public bought into the BS...Americans for the most part appear to have short memories and are inherently stupid!!!

(3,496 posts)After making a complete fool of himself on Hannity last night. Just this morning fox and friends reported cruise missiles launched from somewhere in connection to the drone story. Seemed to be baiting trump into doing something stupid.

(25,183 posts)The drone was put in place close enough to taunt Iran to knock it down, even though we have spy satellites that they can't possibly touch.
All we have to do is back off a bit, and Iran will take out its frustrations over sanctions on some other nation not in the region. Maybe a European target will be next. Then, a coalition can be built to finally deal with them. That's how Bush the first was able to do the Gulf War in 1991. Surely, Trump has someone from that administration in his inner circle who is laying out a blueprint for him to fancy himself as a world leader.
Trump knows that the leaders of other nations generally have scorn for him, no matter how much they pretend to suck up to him with official functions. He'd love to be seen as the greatest among equals in conjunction with them, and anyone who has a scheme for that might well be heeded.
It's been a week since the tanker attacks, and we haven't launched war against Iran yet, even though Bolton is foaming at the mouth for it. Trump's leadership style (if you can call it that) is to let underlings fight it out, and he picks the side that he deems victorious. Anyone offering an option that does not foreclose the other option is likely to be tried out first.
