Fascism and social media today is like fascism and broadcast in the 1930s

A thought I'm working on expanding:

The last time we had a global fascist movement like the one we had today was the 1930s. It was made possible by the advent of broadcast, both radio and early television. In both cases, an older generation not native to the medium, and so naive to its ability to deceive, was more easily swayed by it. Any thoughts?
