I am no longer confident Trump will be the 2020 GOP nominee

Just for what my 2 cents are worth. The physical and mental deterioration evident in the Korea trip are so bad that I don't think they can prop him up for another 18 months. At some point they know he will have to have a neurological test by an actual doctor (not forged by Trump himself) that will have to be made public.

This is important to at least think about because the GOP has been changing how the primaries run, giving the national party more power to essentially overrule or ignore state votes for the delegates.

One of the many things exposed by this has been just how absurdly servile the republican party is.

self respect. This orange abomination makes their entire "party" look stupid. What is he holding over them? Is he blackmailing them with compromat from Russia? If so, he could make Ivanka his replacement, and they would play along with it, to protect themselves. Seems there are NO members of the gop who really care about this country. Self preservation is all they care about, plus money.

Pointing to his loss of balance, his facial contortions and lack of control which were very much in evidence at G20, but also during the Royal visit, the further deterioration of his vocabulary to shortened phrases at about a second grade level, and his inability to read at various times (long having been a problem) among other physical manifestation.

The facial contortions and loss of body control for short periods many believe is highly consistent with FrontoTemporal Dementia (FTD) with progression quite different than Alzheimer's.

At G20:

Very disturbing, but as the latter twitter poster suggests, is this why Pelosi is not moving full speed on impeachment? She has reason to believe his progression is such that it will not be necessary? WOW, if so...

and I get it, I guess, but I find it depressing that at this point "politics" takes priority over what is right; and nobody seems to really care about what's right, what the Constitution indicates. If we're abandoning the rule of law, what's the point of going through the motions of bureaucracy, etc.?

for St. Ronnie for a long time. They will do likewise for tRump. They will not do what is best for the country, only what is best for them. Shouldn't this mental deterioration be further reason for impeachment? We have a mentally disqualified person running the country, and he is causing great harm. Stop it now, before it gets worse. He should HAVE to take medical tests to prove us wrong, if he really is in true mental health. I mean with REAL doctors, chosen by qualified people, not the gop.

But, but, it wasn't the public pushing for a third term. It was Wilson himself trying to convince his team he could handle it, while they felt he couldn't.

Reporters knew about Roosevelt's condition and they took pictures of him in a wheelchair. They just did not print them or discuss his condition. Even after TV the same with Kennedy. Some reporters knew that he had life threatening illnesses but they stayed silent. Not that world anymore.

Having said that I disagree with the OP. There are many reporters, most who don't like Trump, who are in close contact with him on a day to day basis. They would love to write a story and they haven't. Also there have been plenty of leaks from this WH. That tells me there is nothing there.

Apple will let the press play with its new toy if they agree to not write about it until the big day. The state department will let the press see reports or speeches the same way.

And at the daily meeting, editors will decide whether or not the story has enough merit, and evidence, to publish.

Interpretations of Trump's odd actions without proper backup would be irresponsible and dangerous.

such as result of investigations leading the party to dump him or he may make a deal to relinquish the office.

I don't seem any firm evidence of physical and mental deterioration, so I don't know what you are specifically referring to.

He is quite capable of faking any deterioration or exaggerating deficits if it assists him in keeping people off balance or if he may need to claim mental incapacity as a defense sometime in the future.

Trump seems to be acting the role of successful strong man leader who is preparing to get elected in 2020 -building a false narrative complete with photo ops of a "successful and politically accomplished family-Meeting with the Queen of England, jetting off to the G-20 where his son-son-law and daughter as being presented as highly respected political heavyweights, making an historic visit with the leader of a hostile nation, N Korea.

ON an NPR audio clip this morning, Trump is heard making a casual, off-the-cuff assessment about his N. Korea initiative. He sounds fully competent.

Although I do not have firm evidence, I believe that the old guard in the Republican Party does have a replacement candidate waiting should they or he decide at any point that the best option for them is for him to make a deal to leave office.

Trump could pull a bait-and-switch in 2020 at the last minute and have Ivanka run in his place. Note that I said Ivanka, not Mike Pence.

Yeah, yeah, I know. RNC, the primaries, the nomination. But how many times has Trump "broken the rules" and got away with it? And why should this situation be any different?
