Some salad vegetables (greens, mini cukes, vine ripened cherry tomatoes, a few avocados), some cheese, tzatziki, some chopped olives from the olive bar, a small bag of chopped walnuts, some crackers and a few other minor things and the bill came to just over $85.00.

No meat, no processed items, no prepared foods. It's ridiculous.

Also, we have starting getting things from the Illinois Food Bank. My husband takes a disabled man there monthly. They urge food on my husband. When he said he would feel guilty because we are not low income, they told him there were no income guidelines. He is a senior citizen as well. The Food Bank is first come first served. It does help our budget.

products are in slightly smaller packages, hoping we don't notice. I have this old Tupperware cannister set. One of those large round cannisters of oatmeal used to not quite all fit in the oatmeal one. It does now. I notice.

Yeah, groceries have been up for a couple of months. I do think that the late planting season may have had something to do with it, but it is real that prices are up. It remains to be seen if it will go down again as the farmers get back to work.

I am single and normally price insensitive, but even I notice. I picked up a handful of items just earlier today, $29 for almost nothing.

you are likely paying too much. From my price comparisons over the years they are high on groceries despite their desire to spin a low price image.

People like me that are single and would be foolish to stockpile stuff get screwed. But a family can load up on meat one week, then other staples a second week. If done right, they end up with enough basic stuff for 2-3 months at a lower cost. My family was poor, I remember what my Mom did when grocery shopping. The only difficult areas were fresh fruit and vegetables, likely the reason why we ate those from cans when my parents could afford them.

Food prices are way up, home prices are up (they think that's a good thing, for owner's I suppose), everything seems to be inching up a bit.

Wall Street because cheap money allows them to play arbitrage games, until they get their asses in a sling. Trump because he likes seeing the stock market rise, too ignorant to understand that is happening due to cheap money speculation.

You know how I saw the top of the market just before 2007? When I saw ads with guys in them that looked like gravediggers (my apologies, decent and hard work) talking about opening up brokerage accounts. I see that starting to happen again.

Actually, organic does not cost that much more today, unless it is bought from a health food store. The reason why is the almost total corruption of the "USDA Organic" designation by big AG and big food chains.

But the price of everything seems to have gone up. I am a fixed pattern shopper, I buy the same stuff over and over unless I am dealing with a craving. I noticed the price creep upward, started in the winter of 2017 or spring of 2018 and has been continuous since.
