(58,347 posts)One can only hope. Or even if not hope, it just feels good to believe that could have been what happened.

(22,025 posts)Why assume McCain went to heaven? What did he do that was so holy that he would be granted eternity in Paradise?
McCain's only positive attribute is that he stood up to Trump on one occasion. Throughout the rest of his miserable career, he was a typical Republican who put party and personal interest above the nation's priorities.
I cannot ever forgive McCain for dumbing down our politics by bringing that other idiot, Palin, into the mainstream. And that's only one of a great many reasons McCain was bad for our country. Yes, he was a war hero and I respect him immensely for his fortitude and patriotism as a prisoner of war.
However, the rest of his career as a politician was in service of policies and goals that did not benefit most Americans. He can rot for eternity, as far as I'm concerned.

(22,025 posts)Obviously, there was no love lost between McCain and Trump.
Still, the enemy of my enemy is not enough for me to feel nostalgia for McCain. As a politician, he was as bad the the rest of the Republicans. In fact, I'd say he was among the worst because he could have helped steer the Republican party in a better direction but he didn't.

(17,982 posts)Was no to kill health care for millions. I think that would qualify him.
Sure cinch fat slug Trump can not forget it!

(22,025 posts)Sorry, I don't buy it. As I wrote, his vote against repealing the ACA was important. Nonetheless, it doesn't erase his long career of malfeasance as a Republican leader.
May I remind you of how horribly he treated young Chelsea Clinton? What kind of man would make such a terrible "joke" about a teenaged girl? Was his hatred of President Clinton so deep that he would make a nasty comment about his daughter?! How would McCain have reacted if I insulted his daughter in a similar manner?
And let's not forget his other "joke" about "bomb, bomb, bomb Iran." Yeah, that was hilarious... not.
Fuck him.
