The Teleprompter went out, but that doesn't conflate the Revolutionary War with The War of 1812!

As he was leaving the White House, Trump said, “The teleprompter went out, it went kaput. So I could have said — and actually right in the middle of a sentence, it went out. The teleprompter didn’t ruin Trump’s 4th of July speech. It was that Donald Trump had no business giving a 4th of July speech. Trump’s remarks were empty and dull. The speech was a pretense for the president to get a military parade for himself.

Trump made fun of Obama and Hillary Clinton for using a teleprompter, but after he delivered a dull dud of a speech, the president complained about how hard it is to a read a teleprompter in the rain.

It was the previous year's address. Clinton, realizing there's a snafu, proceeds to give the speech from memory while the teleprompter goes dark, and the correct speech is loaded. The technician scrolled frantically through the first several pages, and finally caught up to Clinton, who was still on script.

Imagine the chaos if Trump was at the podium. You don't have to, he did it yesterday, and wound up talking about Washington taking over the airports from Cornwallis of Yorktown while the star spangled banner waved defiantly over Fort McHenry 30 years later. I'm only surprised he didn't mention the Leprechaun Platoon.

The Third Amendment is not the most exciting amendment. It deals with the government forcibly housing soldiers in other people's private homes during peacetime. No one ever talks about that subject now, but it was obviously a big deal for Americans in 1787.
