Morning email...
BREAKING: Amy McGrath officially launches her campaign against Mitch McConnell for Kentuckys Senate seat!
Earlier this morning, Amy McGrath announced on MSNBC's Morning Joe that she is officially running against Mitch McConnell for Kentuckys Senate seat in 2020!
Amy McGrath is Democrats best chance to take on Mitch McConnell and finally send him packing in 2020, but shes going to immediately face millions in dark money attacks from McConnell and his corporate allies. If Amys going to be able to actually topple the most powerful man in Washington next November, she cant do it alone she needs as many people on her team as possible on day one.
Please, will you give directly to Amy McGraths campaign right now and become one of her Founding Donors? Its critical we help her launch with as many grassroots donations as possible and show her that well have her back starting on day one.
Now more than ever, we need people in Washington who will fight to protect our health care, put everyday families first, and end the political games of self-serving career politicians like Mitch McConnell who only do what their corporate and special interest donors want. We need someone who will put country before party. We need Amy McGrath.
...
Together, weve been building a grassroots movement to Ditch Mitch in 2020, and that work continues today by support for Amys campaign.

(22,038 posts)I opened this email this morning, and commenced with jumping up and down, whooping. Husband thought I was nuts!
He's also saying, there's no way she'll beat McConnell, unfortunately. That tRump will come here to campaign for him. I'm saying--are you kidding? He has a 30% approval rating in this state. The Dems will be solidly behind her this time. How's he going to fare against a decorated war veteran fighter pilot, mom of 3 kids?
He can't. So it looks like they already had the ammunition ready--wrongpathmcgrath.com Because who knows what she'll try to do? She's pro-abortion you know--Oh My God!!
She will WIN! I'll be campaigning for her.

Sorry, but nowadays I am a bit paranoid about things like this, republicans have no scruples, they will do anything to win.

(9,090 posts)talk radio stations that work for mcconnell for free and will be attacking her every day from now on
republiconradio.org explains how easy and cheap it is now with AI to record, transcribe, and list thee advertisers associated with those stations
that includes 3 limbaugh stations endorsed by the universities of Louisville 2, Kentucky 1, who like all the other unis that do the same thing should be looking for apolitical alternatives - and should be protested for their endorsement of mcconnell and global warming denial and immigrant hate.

(22,315 posts)"If you think about why Kentuckians voted for Trump, they wanted to drain the swamp, and Trump said that he was going to do that," McGrath said during an interview on MSNBC's Morning Joe. "Trump promised to bring back jobs. He promised to lower drug prices for so many Kentuckians. And that is very important.
"And you know what? Who stops them along the way? Who stops the president from doing these things? Mitch McConnell. And I think that thats very important, and thats going to be my message the things that Kentuckians voted for Trump for are not being done. Hes not able to get it done because of Senator McConnell."

(1,184 posts)But I'm a little skeptical. She lost her Congressional race in a District that included liberal-leaning Lexington a in year Trump was unpopular at the polls. Yes, the surrounding areas in District 6 are more conservative, but there's no evidence she can win a statewide race that will include east and west Kentucky. Lexington and Louisville alone won't do it. You have to REALLY run up the score there, and her recent tack to the middle feels contrived and won't motivate Democratic voters to get out.
I like her record as a veteran and her deliberative persona, but I don't feel the McGrath magic in this particular instance.
I hope I'm very wrong, though

(1,184 posts)My point still stands. She lost in a district that is centered around a left-leaning city, and there's no indication she can do otherwise in a statewide race.
I hope to be proven wrong.
