I predict that if Congress passes anti gerrymandering laws

in the wake of the recent SCOTUS ruling.

The Roberts Court will then strike it down as interfering with States Rights.
(even though they explicitly said it's up to Congress to fix it)

Cause they don't believe in the Constitution, only winning.

for Republicans to draw districts based on citizens. See the article by Lawrence Tribe. Democrats are going to be fucked for decades.

are red states, however. Maryland and Illinois are the blue states that are gerrymandered, but there is NC, Texas, Michigan, Wisconsin, Florida, Georgia, etc and Pennsylvania at the state level. Probably more. California is decided by a neutral panel, I believe. Would love to see McCarthy, Nunes, Hunter and a few others gerrymandered into retirement.

but more specifically in the hands of voters.

We need to quit only fighting for national offices, our next President has to bring out the vote in 2020, 2022, 2024 etc.

We need to take state legislatures and we need to re-apportion fairly. While we allowed ourselves to be distracted the GOP almost took over.

The legislature and local offices are where future national politicians learn and begin to shine.

We need to stop referring it as a contest and keep in mind elections are a democratic process and we Democrats have a platform. Maybe at least some Republicans will learn something they missed in civics class from their Democratic colleagues.

Hell, I remember back in the Reagan era Repubs were talking about winning seats on the local school boards to push their 'Christian' agenda onto the public schools.

Dems are a bit behind the curve on that one. We made up quite a bit of ground in 2018, but there is a lot of hay to be made yet.

The Kochs and ALEC and their ilk look like they've lost focus and dropped the ball. The teacher strikes have hurt them. We're taking back the upper midwest. We need candidates, from dog-catcher to governor to U.S. Senator.

Cali is prepared to pass their law requiring Presidential candidates to disclose taxes. This is a law we know the White House will try to shut down, but I don't know if SCOTUS will want to get involved. The Court would realize that Congressional action on gerrymandering will be imminent if Dems ever regain control of the Senate. Either States get to write the rules or the Feds do. SCOTUS already gutted the Voting Rights Act and effectively said hands off. We need to make them pay for this stance. It may be easier in the long run to reform the electoral college than to enact national voting standards given the judicial climate until we have control and time to clean up the courts. Add P.R. and D.C. as States and take the four new Senators and work toward a super majority. If they want to retreat into their base and consolidate power in the dirty south and the sparsely populated mountain west states we need to make them pay for it and drown the GOP in a bathtub. Make them pay economically and politically.

Since they claim Feds can't touch voting issues because those belong to States, Bush v. Gore never should have happened, not even with the C.Y.A. of "one time only; not a precedent."

But wouldn't SHITLER veto any anti-gerrymandering laws even if they got by Senator TURTLE?!1
