Am i wrong in my thinking?

2020 we win the white house. Now here is where it gets interesting. If TURTLEHEAD still controls the senate, then OUR person (president, woman or Man) selects NEW AG! THEN this will give the House FULL POWER to subpoena ANYONE they choose! We will get to the bottom of all this shit and TURTLEHEAD, and all the cronies in the senate! Could this happen? I hope so!

7. Their goals are VERY different as well.

Conservatives have a pretty singular goal. Keep the social and economic power in the hands of the wealthiest White men currently in power, and their selected progeny. That is basically it. The religion, racism, anti-intellectualism, etc... are all just tools they use to achieve that goal. I just posted a YouTube video on another thread about Stephen King's Trump prediction where the author talks about how the left can win against the right. One of the thing that can be the ultimate demise of the right is that their system is dependent on the continual subjugation of "others". They can NEVER stop oppressing people otherwise they lose their power. It isn't much, but maybe some hope. There have been times where things have been somewhat better than they are now, when they go too far and there is backlash that diminishes their influence for a while. It has taken more than 30 years with a new right wing media sphere to put us where we are right now so may be we need to be focusing not so much on tinkering with policy but in shifting how we see the distribution of power, and the institutions that we can control to make that distribution more equitable.

Part of me is thinking that we "seem not to have the same ability" because we are playing by the rules set up to favor conservatives.

9. Something like that, the rules we play by sure do favor them;

I don't call them 'conservatives,' they are NOT that, they are self-centered, selfish somethings, I'll think of a word later maybe, but they are NOT 'conservative,' which means: 'holding to traditional attitudes and values and cautious about change or innovation, typically in relation to politics or religion.'

11. Funny thing about conservatism...

Conservatives claim to be about "holding to traditional values and cautious......" but what does that really mean? Where did it come from? What specific "traditions" are they wanting to uphold?

Conservatives like to look back at "golden ages" but when you ask them about When? they usually look back about 30 to 40 years from where they are in time. People now will say, "Reagan was the best. The 80's were the heyday in America" but if you asked conservatives in the 80's they would have said, "America today is sliding off the rails with welfare queens and drugs, and terrorism, now the 50's, that was a time when America was great" and so on. To a conservative in the 50's, the "Roaring 20's before that commie FDR put the government jackboot on our necks" was the best time in America.

Conservatives are selfish, they have ALWAYS wanted RICH WHITE PROTESTANT MEN to be in control of all aspects of our lives. They are the descendants of the monarchists and royalists who have always thought that "great men" should be in charge and they have always thought that they are the "great men" to do it.

They were just better at hiding it in the past. They needed to hide it because the mythology of America has been that any person, with effort can ascend to greatness and that all people (men) are created equal and that effort will be rewarded justly. We had more sources of information but they generally played by the same rules with slight slants one way or another. Now we have Corporate media, Right wing media, and a tiny left wing media that everyone thinks are a bunch of kooks, but which the corporate and right wing media simultaneously portray as being "THE GREATEST THREAT TO HUMANITY".

Conservatives have just had their cover blown, that is all.

8. We have to win the Senate as well.
Sat Jul 13, 2019, 10:13 PM

If/When we win the Senate, we need to operate similarly to the way the GOP has by stripping them of their ability to create impasse with legislation.

I don't think that we can accomplish much without all three branches and with an aggressive agenda which relegates the right to a silent minority.

The reality is that policies that Democrats will come up with are not really going to hurt conservatives much at all. Taxes will go up on the wealthiest people, but they can absorb the hit. Religious and personal freedom is more smoke than fire. You can go to church and believe what you want, you just can't force other people in the public square, to believe that as well.

LGBTq people aren't trying to convert anyone or throw their sexual orientation and gender in anyone's face, they are just tying to live as full members of society.

The problem is that right wingers feel oppressed because they are not allowed to OPENLY OPPRESS those who are trying to gain full participation in society. That is why we cannot focus on winning the Presidency and retaining one chamber of congress. We need full control and we need to act aggressively.

We are the actual majority, and not by a little. Most people support actual progressive policies. They get scared when the right wingers lie to them about "losing freedom" or "the government kicking in your door and forcing you to house an undocumented family" or "turning your kids gay" or the other bullshit they peddle.

We need to win and then we need a reckoning.
