Republicans ready to dive off a cliff on Obamacare

GOP senators hope the courts strike down the health law — even if they have no plan to deal with the ensuing chaos.

By BURGESS EVERETT 07/14/2019 06:49 AM EDT

Republicans have no real plan to establish a new health care system if the courts strike down the Affordable Care Act before the 2020 election. But plenty of them are rooting for its demise anyway — even if it means plunging the GOP into a debate that splits the party and leaves them politically vulnerable.

After a decade of trying to gut Obamacare, Republicans may finally get their wish thanks to a Trump administration-backed lawsuit. Its success would cause chaos not only in the insurance markets but on Capitol Hill. And Republican senators largely welcome it — even if they don’t know what comes next.

“I’m ready for it to succeed,” said Sen. Mike Rounds (R-S.D.). “I would love to get back in and actually deal with health care again.”

“Do I hope the lawsuit succeeds? I do,” said Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.). “What I wish is we had some idea where we are going if it does succeed, as it looks more and more like it might.”

Even Republicans not known for taking a hard line are eager for a forcing mechanism to take on Obamacare.

I made it a point to ask Canadians about their health care. I probably asked 1,000 people. Not 1 person said they would trade their system for ours. They all had the same #1 complaint about their system; if you have a non-life threatening issue such as you need a knee replacement, you are going to have to wait a lot longer to get it done because there are poor people in line in Canada waiting to get health care.

Let's cut to the chase in America about why we can't get single payer health care. It certainly isn't because of money, we pay way more than any other civilized country pays. It certainly can't be about results, our life expectancy has fallen the last 3 years. We can't get single payer health care in America because rich people don't want it, they don't want to have to wait in line. All of the other reasons that are out there are nothing but bullshit.

5. a lot of people will vote to uphold the broken healthcare system and the crazy university system in

the US for these main reasons:

For the university system, upper middle class and upper class people often want to keep it expensive enough that they can afford it, but the costs blocks millions from going. They do not want the competition for their children. The RW upper middle and upper class ones also love to see people crushed financially, it makes them feel good about themselves and they are sick fuck sadists, plus they may be profiting off it as well (that is only the elites who make the profits to any huge degree).

For healthcare, its a similar twofold set, (a) much like uni, people who can afford private insurance do not want to risk that the masses somehow will cut them out of what they and they alone deserve, and (b) the truly fucked up reason (and this applies to RW'ers) is that they want to see anyone they do not approve of die or leave the country.
