It is a thin thread of freedom. Unfortunately, it is being stretched to its limit.
Through all our flaws, our battles, our history, our people strove to do better. Many died in the process.
But, overall, we made progress. People enjoyed freedoms unlike any other time in our history. Freedom of expression was one of those freedoms. Equality and opportunity became more than just words.
However, there were those that were opposed to everyone having these freedoms. They threatened violence. They preached hatred. They mocked with nicknames. They marched with guns. They divided our nation. They became stronger as the force to counter them became weaker. They have made violence almost inevitable. It is very sad the direction our country has taken.
The fabric of our country has become frayed as the threads begin to unravel. If the threads break, we will have lost more than just a dream. We will have lost America.

(54,365 posts)I just say the country has been on autopilot since January 2017--thanks largely to solid institutions Democrats thought up and put in place.
Case in point--my family and I are currently on vacation in the USA. It is a place we have been going for 35 years in a row now. Little has changed. Fortunately.
