My heart is breaking for my town tonight.

I live less than 3 miles from that building full of chanting Nazis. What fools they are. Ignorant fools. They think this is one big social. They may as well be chanting "take our democracy". They are as stupid as 1930s Germany. Unbelievable. I served in the Navy to protect our democracy. This is something I never dreamed I would ever see. This sucks.

You just have to change the name from Jew to any person who is not lily white. I wonder when they are going to propose test for the determination of racial purity. I know I am old and not totally up to date. But, I remember when we had Civics classes. We had to be acquainted with the Constitution, especially the Bill of Rights. How bills were formulated and passed through the congress, etc. At least we had to have a working knowledge of government. Do they still have these requirements? I have assumed that it would be the normal practice. I am going to check with my grandkids.

it wasn't mandatory but nearly everyone took it. We also had "social studies" almost every grade, and that covered history and a little civics.

I don't think it's covered much now.

Also, so many people have done the 23&Me or Ancestry, that a dictator would just seize those records. Of course, those companies have probably already sold the info to the government.

Trump serves the purpose of entertaining them like the Romans watching gladiators kill each other and seeing Christians get eaten by lions. The Emperor thought they would love him, but they served no purpose.

If they can’t do what it takes to get good work, like go to free Junior College, and just sit around blaming others for their failures you think he’s going to motivate them to act like an army with his clown show? Sure he whips up their hate, but if you look at the crowds behind him they aren’t angry or upset. They’re ecstatic, riding the high of their lives. That’s their addiction.

And if you look at them you can see they’re too old too. They sit behind him with bizarre grins, looking at the back of his head while he speechifies to the audience in front of him. They’re like trained monkeys, throwing feces at each other.

It’s more likely that isolated nuts will become violent, just as the few examples so far. But to convince 40% of Americans to shoot their liberal neighbors is pretty unlikely.

Just stir ‘em up, it doesn’t matter how or why, and they’ll love you and come back for more. Pinch ‘em in the soft place. They aren’t alive, most of ‘em, and haven’t been alive in twenty years. Hell, their wives have lost their teeth and their shape, and likker won’t set on their stomachs, and they don’t believe in god, so it’s up to you to give ‘em something to stir ‘em up and make ‘em feel alive again. Just for half an hour. That’s what they come for. Tell ‘em anything. But for Sweet Jesus’ sake don’t try to improve their minds.”

Thu Jul 18, 2019, 03:31 PM
Jul 2019

It’s not a concept that the higher brain grapples with. There is no intellectual explanation to define it or justify it. Sure, words can incite it, but the words are not aimed at creating a thought. They’re aimed at whipping up one of the strongest emotions people can have. It’s easy to see it happening in Trump’s rallies. Thanks one reason he has so many rallies. He really thinks he can create an army of raging zombies who will do his bidding. But as we can see his magical powers of persuasion to get his supporters to go forth and smite his enemies doesn’t seem to create the mob he wants. One or two deranged killers doesn’t make a mob. He wants a mob.

He overestimates his powers.

He needs, like every other dictator in history, the military to support him so they can kill those who fight back. When we see that happen we can worry. But at least so far he only seems to have alienated the military.

Trump to bully is actually a coward, too cowardly to join the military and fight in Viet Nam, well my husband did, he was awarded the Bronze Star for bravery, he saved many lives. He later paid for his service in the Delta region by contracting cancer from the Agent Orange, I cared for him with 24 hour nursing till he died.
When I look at the draft dodger in chief it makes me sick, too cowardly to serve, his weapon is calling women names, only people who cannot hit back.
Never forget that his father could not go back to his own country on account of cowardice, he would not serve either. So he went to Canada and ran brothels.
Seems like Trump is continuing a family tradition.

I served on the diesel-electric boats so we came into port almost weekly. I did not suffer with long patrols as much as the nuke.

During the '60s, and beyond, my nuclear boat brothers of the phin did not surface during their 90 day patrols in boat fast attack and missile boats. Sailors cruising the oceans at 1,000 feet, dead silent, cut off from the world, to deter the USSR.

Not long ago I turned on the TV news to see the traitorous republican senators travel to Moscow to fellate Putin in support of Putin's bitch, Donnie boy Trump. And many of the republicans pols were the draft dodgers of my era. Sickening to watch.

It makes me feel like all those deterrent patrols, and the hundreds, if not thousands, of families destroyed marriages, because of the long long patrols, were not worth it. All that wasted time to now support a racist raping draft dodging f*cking punk coward whose Mommy got him 5 fake bone spur deferments.

What I don't understand is why not all veterans are not screaming and instead supporting this asshat.

to unite and vote for the Democratic candidate, what would it ever take? This will be a starkly, crystal clear election--it's either going to be Trump or whoever is the Democratic candidate, that's it.
What sane person would ever want to see him reelected?

As a New Yorker, I've had to watch Trump's shit-show since the 1980s. He's only gotten worse with time and it's unfathomable to me how so many Americans can support him. There is nothing about him that is respectable. Nothing. And yet his followers believe he's divinely inspired!

Too many of our fellow citizens have diseases in the hearts and minds. That sucks.

But I'm wondering how many of the Nazi kids are just falling in with what their "friends" are doing. Trying to fit in somewhere, when they can't get in with the popular kids.

If you get them alone, I bet a lot of them have no idea what the Holocaust was about.

I'm sure that for many of these people and kids this was just one big social. They don't know their democracy is under attack or that by their own actions they are feeding it.

As Werner Hertzog tweeted in 2017 - Dear America: You are waking up, as Germany once did, to the awareness that 1/3 of your people would kill another 1/3, while 1/3 watches.

Sickens me he’s in our town and at my university.
However, the city usually votes blue so there is some hope there.

It was a total lie! I just saw the video. He didn't try to stop it at all, in fact he kept it going. Trump disgusts me on so many levels.

Pitt County--which is where Greenville is located-- that voted for Hillary by 7.6% over that traitorous sack of orange $hit in 2016.

Here are the numbers straight from the NC Board of Elections for Pitt County

Hillary Clinton DEM 41,824 51.94%
Donald J. Trump REP 35,691 44.32%

https://er.ncsbe.gov/?election_dt=11/08/2016&county_id=74&office=ALL&contest=0

They may represent Nazis from elsewhere in the state since there were not enough blue votes to overcome him in 2016. We can change that. Remember Obama won here in 2008.

I live in a red county too, so I feel your pain.

I also went to see the orange abomination; many, many protesters outside, and the rally was sparsely attended. That was back when it seemed impossible he would win, but it still nauseated me.

It was really disgusting, and it wasn’t just old people.

and embarrassment. You are still talking about a locality that went for Hillary in 2016 which includes East Carolina University. I've linked an article from the Reflector with some general comments from local leaders about the chanting and its mostly pretty negative, you can read here.

starting my own immigration process - to Canada.

I understand that this is not an easy or simple process. I do have relatives in Canada, however, that would be able to help.

I feel a little bit better today. I want to fight the assholes here. It's my damn country too.
