Back story:

They're my in-law and we've been around and around about racism in the Republican messages.

This was, I guess, their idea of proving me wrong. Before that I was told to watch tonight because they had Condi as a speaker. I replied when you have to search to find a minority to speak at your convention, and then brag about it, you're missing my point.

I haven't replied to their excitement over seeing another black person there. I fail to see the use.

Honestly, how can people be so blind?

I'm just venting a bit. Sometimes I get so tired of the ignorance.

And painfully sad. The song is older than I am, and we're still dealing with this issue.

I'm not normally this maudlin. I have the good fortune to be around young people often. They've such a more progressive attitude about race than the one I grew up with. I'm usually the one reminding people of that fact.

I forget sometimes just how far we still have to go, and how long we've been fighting this same damn fight. When I remember it can be exhausting.
