A rant cause folk got their fee fees hurt on FB when I called a racist a racist ..aww
My father a combat veteran of WWII. Korea and Nam was NOT a paradigm of progressive values. He had that racist bone. We could rarely talk politics.
But I gotta admit that I was never prouder than when he had had quite enough of some in-law going on a white supremacist Nazi apologist rant.
Frank he said -edged and quiet, I killed hundreds, maybe thousands of Nazis from Africa thru Italy. And Id gladly kill one more of those SOBs
He didnt have to add tonight
And no more of that SOBs utterances that or any other night.
I think of my old man every time this pretender in the WH this cowards coward basks in the chants of send her home. References shithole countries . M-13 rapists ..
Those men , those who fought and died to uphold values of fairness and freedom [we can rightfully discuss the contextual limits of those words ] those men - mostly gone now they knew this language . The bully hoping to put his jackboot on anyone he deems unworthy. The inciter of thugs and orc packs. .. Im thinking that many of those old GIs would have been tempted to remind a few folks today of what lengths they had willingly gone.
Yeah- likely no coincidence that this revival of putrid ugliness waited til those guys were gone.

I couldn't agree more as one who lost 2 uncles in WWII.

(51,279 posts)lump together everyone over 65. To be a part of the WWII generation, who fought in it, one would have been at least 92 or 93.

(8,020 posts)voted at a 2-1 ratio for Trump over HRC. I think voting WWII vets would vote the same as there is no reason to believe otherwise as the greatest generation were a pretty conservative bunch.

(14,955 posts)They would hate anybody that so desecrated the principals that this country was founded upon.
They would hate a man who was a liar, cheater, adulterer, and enemy of every one.
They would not want to be part of his party.
Party of cheats.

(4,858 posts)...remember him? The guy who was elected President four times in a row? Who created the Liberal Era in US politics, that lasted until 1978? And when they did vote for a GOP guy, it was Dwight Eisenhower, someone who didn't exactly admire Nazis all that much, and was a very civilized guy for a GOP President...

(2,611 posts)None would stomach DJT. Unfortunately, theyre all dead. My father wrote to then candidate Barack Obama voicing his support and his sorrow that he would likely not live to vote for him. He treasured the personal letter he got from Barack wishing him well. Dad lived to cast a mail in ballot, but not to see the inauguration.
Anecdotal, I know, but people beating up on that generation might do well to look long and hard at their souls.
