Four-Star General Blasts Trump Over Threat To 'Wipe Out' Afghanistan

Four-Star General Blasts Trump Over Threat To ‘Wipe Out’ Afghanistan
Oliver Willis July 22, 2019

Retired four-star Gen. Barry McCaffrey slammed Trump on Monday for casually claiming he has a “plan” to end the war in Afghanistan that involved killing “millions” of people.

Trump discussed the bloody scenarios as he met with Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan at the White House.

“We could do a number the likes of which they’ve never seen before and win it very quickly,” Trump said. “I don’t want to do that because you’re talking about millions of people, and I don’t want to do that.”

“Troubling listening to Trump Oval Office news conference with Pakistani PM,” McCaffrey responded. “He baldly states that we have analyzed and considered using nuclear weapons to kill millions of people in Afghanistan as a solution to the conflict. WHAT IS TRUMP THINKING?”

McCaffrey served over 30 years in the military and has been awarded three Purple Hearts, two Silver Stars, and two Distinguished Service Crosses.

He has repeatedly criticized Trump for poor decision-making on national security issues.

When I began my studies of medieval history, I recall (at one point) coming across the original medieval version of the phrase in a thirteenth-century source by the German monk Caesarius of Heisterbach. In describing events that took place at the Battle of Béziers in 1209, a part of the broader so-called Albigensian Crusade, Caesarius cited a Catholic cleric named Arnaud Amaury as the originator of the phrase. At one point during the battle, when the crusaders were supposedly hard pressed to distinguish the Catholics from the Cathars at Béziers, Caesarius records Amaury as commanding Catholic forces to (translated from the original Latin) “Kill them all, God will know his own.”

He is the literal embodiment of Greg Stillson from Stephen King's "The Dead Zone"...a con-man president with a shady past and delusions of grandeur to go alongside a temperament better suited for a rabid dog and a preoccupation with launching nuclear weapons.

I can only hope that someone in the military chain of command is going to defy orders and stop it when he gives the order to launch, because it seems more likely as time goes on...

Is it really that far fetched, that Miller would suggest the elimination of a country of followers of Islam...especially one that is as poor and unstable as Afghanistan?

Who in the Islamic world would miss the Taliban? Certainly not the Pakistanis...the areas on the border of Afghanistan and Pakistan have been a thorn in the side of the Pakistani government since 9/11!

I would guess that many of their former "allies" would prefer it...if the Taliban just disappeared and ceased to exist!

The whole world?

Real leaders don't talk like this. Desperate little tyrants will grasp at anything to try to elevate themselves. "My bombs are bigger than your bombs, so there! And your mom wears combat boots!"
