One of the Best Jobs You Can Have: Fox & Friends Is So Excited About $2.13 an Hour Minimum Wage Jobs for Tipped Workers"Fox & Friends" Tuesday morning spent several minutes discussing minimum wage jobs for tipped workers. Co-host Brian Kilmeade boasted he had five to seven tipped minimum wage jobs when he was young, calling each "one of the best jobs you can have."
"I started as a bus boy, I used to bus, clear the tables, and we used to rotate washing the dishes, and at the end of the day you pool your tips. It's one of the best jobs you can have when you're breaking in," Kilmeade insisted, because "you don't even expect that check. It's almost a surprise when you get a $60 or $70 check at the end of the week," in addition to tips.
$60 or $70 isn't even lunch money to people in Kilmeade's income bracket. He reportedly makes $4 million per year, and has a net worth of $8 million.

Later, host Steve Doocy tried to discredit Rep. Rhashida Tlaib (D-MI) for saying the federal minimum wage should be even higher than the $15 per hour the House just passed she says it should be "$18 to $20 an hour at this point."

(24,461 posts)They're already grooming people to accept the idea of working until you drop dead on the job.
I used to work at a place where two people died AT the job. Some life . . .

(19,038 posts)AIs are about to replace a ton of white collar jobs, people who have degrees and do desk work will be forced into new markets for them.
We think about busboys and fast food workers and see teenagers. Well, we'll see former accountants, former software engineers, and many other former white collar workers soon. A living wage is more important than ever, $15 an hour tied to CPI so we never fall so far behind again is what it will take to prevent a revolution.

(3,131 posts)Looked this liar up. We are similar ages and I was also born in new york. Ive had so many crappy jobs growing up and never did I think of 60 dollars as no big deal.
When I got my job as an engineer one of the odd perks was if you worked more than two hours overtime you got a few dollars meal allowance. No overtime pay just 3 dollars. And I still look back fondly at that.
Anyone who talks like that has had money falling out of their ass their entire life.

(11,910 posts)I suspect a good number would prefer the current system.
Most people tip servers and bartenders because they understand that is how the current system is structured. If they are paid $15 per hour and restaurant prices are increased as a result, there is no longer any reason for tips.
We typically dont tip other employees like grocery cashiers, fast food workers, self serve gas station cashiers, dry cleaners or others that deal with us daily like we do restaurant servers.
