and I mean that with as much sympathy as I can muster....

I work overnight at a local hotel right now and I just spent 45 minutes having a discussion with someone who couldn't figure out where he was or how he got here, (he was lost, and the irony of that statement is NOT lost on me, btw)...
Here are the highlights of his side of the conversation...

I should sit out this election because the choice is actually between the False Prophet (Romney) and the Beast (Obama)...

If churches were actually doing their job of caring for the needy, Entitlement Programs would be unnecessary...

911 was masterminded by Saddam Hussein to destroy the American economy, the American Military and the American Government all in one fell swoop (and he tried to tell me that there was another plane that we never knew about that was targeting Camp David cause that's where the President would go in an emergency, and that plane was actually shot down by the Air Force) and THAT"S why it was necessary to invade Iraq, NOT to find WMD, NOT for Oil, but to destroy a lethal enemy of America...

That Bush was unfairly blamed for the Housing Crisis and subsequent economic colapse because a Housing/Urban Development Policy under President Clinton (that was lifted from old Soviet Russia word-for-word, BTW) did EXACTLY what it was intended to do, which was to put poor people in homes they couldn't afford, so that 7 the million Muslims Clinton let into America would have an easier time of setting up training camps to assist the overthrow of the American Government by the aforementioned Saddam Hussein, and something about then selling what was left of America to China...

That there is no such possible thing as a Liberal Christian...

I enjoy the thought that it's possible to change people's minds about the nature of how our government works, and about the accurate Facts of ACTUAL History, but what do we do when, for these people, there is so much innate fear, enemies on ALL sides, and our own fellow citizens are part of the plot to destroy us? What do we DO with that? (I know that the answer is that willing ignorance MUST be defeated through use of the political process, but if they think the same thing about US over on this other side of the isle, then this whole thing amounts to a battle of attrition, and that bothers me...)

I don't want to, and I know that I shouldn't, but really, I can't help but blame America's crazy-insane pastors for not being able to define the difference between RELIGION and SPIRITUALITY. Again, I know I shouldn't, but I really do HATE these people...and that makes me rather uncomfortable...I don't know if anyone here has anything to offer that can make me feel better, but I'll take what I can get right now....

Dr. McCoy was right, I have NO IDEA how we'ere going to make it out of the 21st Century...
