(CNN) An audiovisual aide for conservative student group Turning Point USA was fired this week after President Donald Trump appeared on a stage in front of a parody image of the presidential seal at its Teen Student Action Summit.

As the President took the stage Tuesday morning before a sea of 1,500 teenage cell phones, a screen behind him showed a fake presidential seal featuring a two-headed eagle -- which bore similarity to the State seal of the Russian Federation -- clutching a set of golf clubs in its talons. The seal was visible for a short time behind Trump, who stood behind a podium affixed with the official (and un-doctored) presidential seal for the duration of his speech.
TPUSA apologized for the incident, telling CNN there was "zero malicious intent" behind the imagery.
"We're sorry for the mix-up and meant no disrespect to the White House or the President or the advance team," the TPUSA source said.

This country is amazing. If you are a traitor who conspired with a foreign power you get to be president for four years and I guess these is just NOTHING that can be done about it. But if you mess around with a logo you get fired. Our priorities are so backwards...

Someone should have proofed it before it went up no matter how last minute.

I say that sarcastically because at one time I was a professional proofreader and typesetter. There's no such thing any more. Everyone must proof their own copy, even though 99% of us have no skills for it. The result is mistakes everywhere.

I dont think it was an accident. The only thing better would have been playing the Russian national anthem during his appearance.

(37,158 posts)A normal advance team would have its hands full. Thanks to Trump's typical understaffing, everyone on the team has to juggle several "hands full" loads at once.
Thus the constant string of things getting dropped. But hey, those leaks, amirite?

People fall for it because, ya' know, reading comprehension is really hard
The error is pointed out in the thread, but few people notice because, ya' know, reading comprehension must be impossible
The OP never gets corrected for some unknown reason
There is another thread today with nearly 100 likes, same thing

No to toxic equivalencies. Republicans do not define us.

(14,889 posts)TPUSA scrambled to find a graphic at the last minute via the internet, no one at TPUSA created the seal. But...upon finding the seal, wouldn't it be obvious that it's not really a presidential seal? Hmmmmm.....
"Ultimately, both TPUSA and White House advance are at fault. TPUSA and their production crew were responsible for putting the wrong graphic up. But the advance office should have provided the official seal and/or approved everything that was put out," the source said.

(12,022 posts)he's a former Republican who hates Trump. He posted it online. The image was innocently (or so it's claimed) pulled from the internet because they needed a high-res seal as background, and the aide didn't take a close look at it. The graphic artist is making a killing now from tee shirts.

(12,372 posts)Like any of us, "Get me a presidential seal." So you go to the internet tubes and the google flips up a few photos to download. (This doesn't work now. Alls you get is the prank.)
Would you examine it closely? Just download the fukin' thing and get on to the other shit that needs to be done. After all, I'm going to be right in the same room with my hero.
Or maybe he was a plant. But if you were the AV aid, would you know about the plant? I didn't. Why would you even look for a prank seal? The creator hadn't thought about it for a couple of years.
I'd say, fuck-up, not intended prank.

(7,527 posts)USUALLY it's good to look at the listing of what site it's coming from and it may have been grabbed in haste.
I can actually believe this - I have been working on a site where you can get art printed on items, and it ideally requires large images at high-resolution, as opposed to most normal online images which can be pretty small and low-rez.
