'We don't have that many differences': Pelosi minimizes differences with Ocasio-Cortez

WASHINGTON – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez met face-to-face Friday after weeks of public friction between the two high-profile Democrats.

"It went very well," Pelosi said after the meeting.

When asked if she and Ocasio-Cortez resolved any of their differences, Pelosi replied, "we don't have that many differences." The speaker wrote in a tweet later that the two met "to discuss working together to meet the needs of our districts and our country, fairness in our economy and diversity in our country."

The collegial tone after the meeting appears to be the latest iteration of the sometimes-contentious relationship between the speaker from California and the freshman lawmaker from New York, who has come to represent the progressive wing of the party. The two have quibbled over both policies and tactics during their six months together in the House but recently appeared to unify after President Donald Trump made racist attacks against four minority members of Congress.
