The Battle of North Point LITERALLY turned the tide of the War of 1812. Had it not, our national anthem right now would be "God Save the Queen". Some people decry "the bombs bursting in air" but it is a reference to our refusal as a people, as a nation to give up. We were outnumbered and nothing more than a citizen regimen against one of the most sophisticated militias on earth at the time.
Francis Scott Key, the author of the Star Spangled banner was born in Elijah Cummings' current district.
Babe Ruth, arguably one of the best baseball players of all time, may have made a name for himself with the Yankees...but he was certainly BORN AND RAISED in Baltimore, and if Camden Yards lies within those boundaries, it was in Elijah Cummings' current district.
Billie FUCKING Holiday, one of the best singers to ever walk the face of planet earth (neutral third...musicians KNOW the power of this and she did it instinctively) was born and raised in Elijah Cummings' district.
Back in the 1930's a royal fucking sovereign abdicated his throne *just* so he could spend his days with a girl from Baltimore. Oh, and you guessed it...Elijah Cummings' current district.
I could go on, and I am sure some of my compatriots will add to the list, but Elijah Cummings deftly represents a vibrant district full of diversity and steeped so richly in the history of our nation that only a CHUMP ASS TRAITOR would dare defile it. But I digress...
