You see, according to my RW friend on FB, they only threw peanuts at her and called her an animal because she worked for CNN, you see, and they're such a disreputable news organization that they just couldn't contain their anger at her employer. It had absolutely nothing to do with her race, you see. All just an unfortunate coincidence.

(16,191 posts)The fire breathing righties that I know all refer to CNN as the "Communist News Network" and have done so for years.
Even if they're telling the truth though, race still had EVERYTHING to do with it. Would they have thrown peanuts if she'd been a blue eyed blonde? A hard chiseled "All American" type? No, of course they wouldn't have. They may have genuinely been expressing their dislike for CNN, but the color of her skin made it "ok" to degrade her that way.
Intent means nothing. Actions mean everything. The fact that they did it to a black person, when there were plenty of white camerapeople around, tells us everything we needed to know. She was a more "acceptable" target.
