General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsThere is a new "parody" twitter account that frames MSNBC as "Fox News for Centrists".
The account belongs to a "comedy nerd" who appears to think that MSNBC functions as a quasi-propaganda outlet for the DNC much in the same way that Fox serves that function for conservatives/Republicans. Hence the parody account's name MSDNC.
Given the impact that social media has had on shaping the narrative and influencing young and new voters, I don't find this particularly helpful.

(38,309 posts)I quit about ten years ago. No cable, no satellite, no broadcast.
My own politics are practical, closer to Nancy Pelosi or Kamala Harris. I don't like Bernie Sanders and green party nitwits irritate the hell out of me.
My own personal political views are considerably to to the left of the Democratic center, and I'm a bit of an extremist about environmental issues, but I look forward to a U.S.A. where the Republicans Party is dying and irrelevant.

I also still like the old-school CBS Evening News, the BBC, and French newspapers like like Le Monde and the Nouvel Observateur's magazine.
I work voter registration drives, and I always recommend On the Issues for an objective analysis of a candidate's record/stances.
I am very wary of social media news sources.

(37,997 posts)Look, I would love to say more about who I'm sure is behind this account and the other one with a similar name, but that belongs in the Primaries forum and I don't like to go there.
My name is Paul and that's between y'all.

(35,454 posts)But given the likes of Hayes, Williams, Reid, all their road warrior hosts (it the democratic party kasie, not democrat), Nicole and regulars like Heileman, J. JOhnson, Goldberg and so on and so forth, it could've been that other station.

(58,785 posts)the Republicans destroy progressivism itself under the delusion and/or pretense, as they've often imagined publicly, it'll take down the Democratic Party. After all, we're really just like the Republicans, not enough difference to matter, and LW True Believers are America's only hope.
MSNBC's management is committed to electing Republicans, and MSNBC's Kool-Aid is as designed to further that as Fox's, just more subtly for different audiences. We know that.
We also know that MSNBC, CNN, Fox, the NYT, AP, Russia and many others all use the far left as a weapon against the Democratic Party.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you, but I am disagreeing with the framing of MSNBC as the DNC's propaganda / party line mouthpiece.
snip===========================================
It is not MSNBCs job to promote the Democratic Partys economic message. And the Mueller investigation is an important and fascinating story thats tailor-made for television news. It would not be realistic for Democrats to expect any for-profit media company to prioritize conveying its preferred political narratives over covering the most sensational events of the day.
And yet, Republicans do get that courtesy from the nations most-watched cable news channel. Fox News puts the GOPs messaging needs ahead of maximizing eyeballs: When big breaking news about the Mueller investigation reflects poorly on the Republican president, Fox lets its competitors own the days top story.
This puts Democrats at a profound structural disadvantage especially in the war for the hearts and minds of working-class white voters in the deindustrializing Midwest.

Absolutely.
What works against the Democratic Party for the dissident left so often also works for the Republicans and Russia. And vice versa. Just coincidence that they're all singing in harmony at the same time.

(25,451 posts)Sure it's very popular at JPR. For all the idiots who believe the DNC is a large powerful wealthy entity that can rig elections and have people murdered and make everybody say their diabolical propaganda, but never ever ever mention the RNC, which is an office somewhere where its staff occasionally goes when there's some paperwork to do and emails to send out.
