JUST IN: Russian opposition activist Alexei Navalny's doctor says he is suffering from the effects of "undefined chemical substances" not an allergic reaction, as has been reported. https://www.axios.com/alexei-navalny-vladimir-putin-allergic-reaction-bce8ccc8-753c-43d4-ac2b-4d677f4679c1.html?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=organic

(51,565 posts)and thought for a nanosecond, "Maybe he is smarter than I give him credit for" since there is that very real possibility. Of course he isn't smart though, just paranoid and rightly so. He and Epstein should be worried about the same outcome. Naturally, I would dance on his grave. Hell, I would have a non-stop 6 month long party!

(1,812 posts)Putin will use the threat of blackmail, I 'm sure he has so much on Trump. And nast.y stuff too.
To destroy Trumps 's businesses and belittle him "bigly" would be a fate worse then death.
It will be telling to see how Trump responds if the accusation is true.

(18,770 posts)Vladimir Alexeyevich Kara-Murza (Russian: Влади́мир Алексе́евич Кара́-Мурза́; 24 October 1959 28 July 2019) was a Russian journalist and TV host.
<snip>
Public position
In 2004 he became one of the founders of the opposition Committee 2008. In 2018, he was one of the trustees of Grigory Yavlinsky in the presidential election.
He was one of the critics of the policy of the current authorities and President Vladimir Putin, and in his publications regularly criticized the programs of modern Russian television and their presenters.
The article cited on Wikipedia is in Russian:
Translated, it only says:

(11,605 posts)Maybe fear of this is why Lindsey Graham and others in his party have become trump's lackey's. Maybe this is why they have done a complete 180?

(63,221 posts)There has to be a reason for Graham's sudden about face and the slavish loyalty of others in the party that you know just hate his guts.
Are they all that susceptible to blackmail or is their an even bigger threat hanging over their heads if they betray him?

Yes, this Deripaska, Moscow Mitch's buddy.
Rusal, the aluminum company partially owned by Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska, announced plans to invest around $200 million to build a new aluminum plant in Kentucky just months after the Trump administration removed it from the U.S. sanctions list.

Russia didn't just merely meddle in our election. They've got operatives all around the world and they are hell bent on weakening democracy and ensuring that they are the dominant power throughout the world.

(17,881 posts)What matters now is what the Russian people do with this. It would be ironic if we started talking about the Russian Summer like we did the Arab Spring. Ironic as hell after all the shit he's pulled if his own country ends up with massive demonstrations and an armed insurrection. Damn scary for the rest of the world too, but karma works that way sometimes. He's not going to get away with the Syrian disaster unscathed.
