Rand Paul: "Stop complaining about the state of our country. At least we're not Somalia."

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/07/26/rand-paul-maybe-ilhan-omar-would-appreciate-america-more-if-she-visited-somalia/

“I’ve met people who have come here from behind the Iron Curtain,”Paul said. “They got away from communism, they’re some of the best Americans we have, because they really appreciate how great our country is, and then I hear Representative Omar say America is a terrible place.”

“Well, she came here and we fed her, we clothed her, she got welfare, she got [schooling], she got healthcare, and then, lo and behold, she has the honor of actually winning a seat in Congress, and she says we’re a terrible country? I think that’s about as ungrateful as you can get,” continued the senator.

“And so — I’m willing to contribute to buy her a ticket to go visit Somalia,” he continued, “and I think she can look and maybe learn a little bit about the disaster that is Somalia — that has no capitalism, has no God-given rights guaranteed in a constitution, and has about seven different tribes that have been fighting each other for the last 40 years.”

That's his best defense? The US is better off than a war-ravaged, poverty-stricken Third-World country?

I'll buy him a ticket to Newark in NJ. I'll drive him one of two places:

Elizabeth or Camden.

He gives me his wallet and cell phone. If he can make it to my house in Hunterdon County THEN he can buy her a ticket.

Good luck Rand.

Don’t know much about Omar, but the Wikipedia bio indicates her father was employed. To read the article above, one would think she was spoonfed everything until she ran for Congress.

problems his own state has, before he goes mouthing off.

I would like to see her and idiot rand paul debate each other, especially since he had his daddy's name to help him get elected, and especially since he stood by doing nothing while the repugs passed the 2017 tax cut and jobs bill that caused an additional up to $4 trillion dollars in debt.

"Hey at least we're not Somalia" is possibly the worst answer to any question.

"Did you enjoy the service, sir"
"At least we're not Somalia!!!"
"A simple yes or no would have sufficed."

See?

It's a Libertarian's dream. Zero environmental or labor laws, very little police presence, and all the guns you could ever dream of. Why doesn't Rand move there.

And the irony of him talking about the things that helped Omar become a success all being things Rand wants eliminated is lost on him.

something similar. We have a corrupt president, surrounded by corrupt republicans like Rand. Together, they want to control women, get rid of public education, taxes on the rich, healthcare, EPA regulations, free and fair elections, basic oversight, and all the things that used to distinguish the U.S. from third world countries.

in office has become in this era? Long after the willingness and ability to recite party lies have displaced undesirable characteristics like competence or honor. Surely much broader than it used to be, and they were never the party of clear, unbiased reason, much less wisdom.

Rand Paul is one of many prime examples of the intellectual degradation of the Republican Party, as shockingly ignorant of all beyond his pathetically limited imaginings as Rick Perry, both dumb as two sacks of rocks. And all routinely demonstrate it.

I remember Rand trying to instruct students at an elite black university with a nugget of common information about white contribution to black advancement (that he got wrong!). Black university -- black studies -- very smart and knowledgeable black people: even standing in front of them, three jaw-droppingly unconsidered and unconnected dots.

It's okay today to hate America in GOP land.

In GOP land if you don't love America, you should leave it. Also in GOP land, America is a shit stinking hell hole of corruption. (But only the imaginary parts that exist only in GOP land's minds).
