He's likely to try to burn everything down on his way out. Scorched Earth. More and more GOP congress people are announcing their retirements in the House and even the Senate. They can see the writing on the wall. At some point, Trump is likely to understand that he will not win re-election. When he does, it's going to piss him off no end.
Everyone needs to be watchful next year for actions that are potentially seriously destructive on his part. He's already not altogether right in his head, and the knowledge of a sure defeat is likely to send him over the edge, I think. I just hope that there are those in government who will put stumbling blocks in his path to eliminate the very worst of the things he might try to do.

(21,624 posts)Some of his like-minded friends in other countries are doing the very thing.
Facing upcoming elections they know they'll lose, they are either a) plotting electoral fraud (usually electronic); and/or b) taking on massive debts they know the next president will have to deal with, and therefore be left with little wiggle room with which to make policy changes.
And like Trump, you see them trying to rush as many judicial nominations through as they can.

(62,406 posts)use executive orders to try to do things like cut SS and medicare. What does he care? This is one reason why packing the courts was so important.
The only good thing is that his policies should help to sink his party in both houses of congress.
I hope he spends the rest of his life in jail and penniless.

(25,183 posts)I expect that he will try to break off a sizable piece of this nation to form a CSA 2.0, which would elect him as their leader, and he would be able to be the virtual king of until he's dead.
He was already poised to declare the 2016 election as "rigged", and I have no doubt that he would still be making a stink about it had the Electoral College not gone his way. After four years as president, he will be even harder to stop when he tries to make trouble, as I believe he will.
