In 2000 and 2004 the election was fairly openly stolen, but after the fact, defended as fairly won. By the time the evidence of theft was diligently produced, we were told to move on, old news.

By 2008, Republicans knew that the pent up anger of the electorate was too large and they gave in and didn't even try to steal it.

This year, the gloves are off and they are pretty much openly announcing their intention to steal the thing.

For years I've said that we live in a Pseudo-Democracy. A banana republic with a democratic media veneer; cheap particle board covered with a picture of wood. But there are worse forms of government - the powers that be could just stop pretending.
