Canada May Call An Emergency Session Of Parliament To Stop Trumps Latest Harebrained Scheme
Trump announced a plan to raid Canadas drug supply without talking to Canada as advocates have called for an emergency session of Parliament.
The Globe and Mail reported:
The federal government may not be suitably equipped to protect the drug supply, he added, suggesting Parliament ought to be recalled before the October election in order to establish a mechanism to ensure Canadians have ample access to the medications they need. We may not have all the necessary tools in place, Adams said. If not, lets be honest about that and lets call Parliament back to a special session before the election to create the legal tools to protect the supply of patented medicines for Canadians and their health needs.
As has become the norm in the US, the Trump administration has proposed a half-baked plan without talking to allies or thinking it through. Trump wants to do something fast on prescription drug costs because he wants to run on it in 2020.
Instead of coming up with a plan to have the US government negotiate prescription drug prices, because, in the Republican speak thats socialism, Trump is going to steal Canadas drug supply, and cause a shortage of prescription medications north of the border.
Big Pharma spends a lot of money donating to Republicans and some Democrats, so Republicans will never support the obvious solution to lowering prescription drug costs. Trump has no plan, so he is going to take the drugs from Canada and claim victory.
If Trump tries to implement this scheme, expect a swift legal Canadian response limiting exports of prescription drugs to the US, as Trumps con wont be tolerated.

(23,738 posts)...That bought huge lots wholesale at the Canadian price and shipped them to the US?
I'm sure that Trump already has a (contributing) company in mind to handle that. He gets his vig from the campaign contribution.

(82,849 posts)As it is, there are a lot of U.S. citizens who go to Canada in quest of prescription drugs that are available far more cheaply there. There are even organized bus tours that ferry folks to the Great White North for the purpose. Doing that is prohibited by federal law, though. Under the rubric of drug safety (you don't know where that Viagra's been!), citizens aren't supposed to go to other countries to take advantage of a health care industry not quite so in thrall to Big Pharma.
Instead of enacting laws against Big Pharma and cutting their remarkably large profit margins, the Trump administration is mulling an executive order overruling the laws on the books, and using Canada as the cut-rate suppliers of America's prescription drug needs. Of course, the administration didn't consult with our mortal enemies, the Canadians, about this because fuck 'em. Canada is justifiably concerned that they will run short of prescription drugs if millions of U.S. citizens come storming across the border to fill their prescriptions.
Trump: Spreading good will across the globe, like a really virulent case of herpes.

Does he really want Canada to declare war on America?
NATO would have to side with them against us.
We will suffer the same economic fate as the countries this orange ass is inflicting on the world.
America is not at all popular under this dipshit.
