Texas police officer kills woman while firing at loose dog

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/arlington-texas-police-officer-shoots-kills-woman-while-firing-at-loose-dog/

Arlington, Texas -- An Arlington police officer aiming at a loose dog coming toward him shot and killed a woman Thursday evening, CBS Dallas reports. The officer wasn't hurt.

The station says Arlington police and fire department members and EMS responded to a report of a woman passed out in a grassy area.

As the officer began to approach what appeared to be a woman lying in the grass, he noticed there was also a loose dog that was apparently with her, police said in a news release.

As the officer called out to the woman repeatedly about her condition, the dog began to run toward the officer in a threatening manner and barking, police said.

If a dog was running towards me in a threatening manner and I carried a gun I think my last reaction would be to pull it out. Much less to try and shoot the dog. What a coward. That must have been one scary-ass dog.

It seems that using the gun is the first option for many of them.

I've been, with children, in immediate danger of cops firing guns and I never want to do that again.

Margarita Victoria Brooks, the daughter of an Arlington Fire Department chief, has been identified as the victim killed in a police-involved shooting Thursday, according to reports.

On edit: She was homeless, so maybe he gets off with no punishment after all.
