I know construction union members, licensed workers, and may others who are making good money, with great benefits and job security, and they are Trump voters.

His cult followers are the part of humanity whose lizard brains control them. It's true of conservatives, in general. They're controlled by fear of anything that is new and/or not a part of their comfortable bubble. That's why the right always uses "The Other" in their fear tactics. They know that fearful people are easily manipulated and controlled, and will do anything to keep The Other from hurting them. Even when The Other has no intentions of hurting them. Which they don't the vast majority of the time. It's how religion works, too. "If you don't believe what we're selling you, you'll burn in Hell for eternity."

This is a helpful illustration from "Information is Beautiful."

His best results were among white voters from households making between $75K and $100K. Not "rich" rich, I guess, but definitely not slumming it.
