Someone needs to develop an AI system that recognizes a person with a gun.

Then it can constantly monitor security cameras feeds at crowded venues and instantly send out a warning and contact police if it spots one. It could even instantly send them the video that shows the shooter.

If this were implemented the police could know about the shooter before he's started shooting.

(I've looked into AI a little and its very doable. You just feed the computer thousands of pictures of people with guns and thousands without guns and let the AI algorithm chug away. It analyzes all the data and spits out a program that will be able to give you the probability for any photo that it shows a person with a gun. If the probability is over 90%, say, it would alert the police. If the probability is over 97% it could send out a warning to the people in the shooters vacinity)

But at present it's completely unrealistic since half the US lawmakers want free, unfettered use of guns for anyone, anywhere no matter what the cost in innocent human lives.

This AI system could at least be an early warning system and give law enforcement some information about a situation right away when incidents occur.

Plus you wouldn't run afoul of the 2A, since you're not singling out gun owners.

I can sling my AK over the shoulder and shop there if I want.

If it's on your back it wouldn't be considered a threat but if it's taken off the back and held in the hands it would be.

But it is crazy that weapons are allowed to be carried in public at will.

So a gun on the back wouldn't trigger an alarm but as soon as someone takes if off their back a warning and video would be sent to the police.
The police can then determine from the footage whether it requires intervention or not.
If someone just shifts the gun to the other shoulder the video would show that and police would not get involved.

It's better for false alarms like that to be flagged than to wait until someone manages to get through to 911 and makes a report after a shooter has already started.
