DU this poll: Did Santorum say 'Black' People or ‘Blah’ People?

From mediaite:

NAACP president Ben Jealous called Santorum’s alleged remark (with the understanding he said “black people” not “blah people”) “outrageous.” “He conflates welfare recipients with African-Americans, though federal benefits are in fact determined by income level,” Jealous said.

Mediaite’s Tommy Christopher noted it took Santorum three days to clarify that he really said “blah” not “black”. He emailed Santorum’s campaign on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday before he volunteered this unusual explanation.

And another thing - if that is what you believe then own it, be proud of it. Only a coward would try to snake out of what he said unless there was true contrition and an apology.

It is an objective analysis of sounds that came pout of Santorum's mouth, not a subjective analysis of what those sounds mean.

because he definitely realized he'd made a mistake when he said it:

"What I think — I started to say a word and then sort of changed and it sort of — blah — mumbled it and sort of changed my thought.”

In short, he meant what he said, and he said what he meant.

Did he really say he was talking about "blah people"? What does that even mean?
This is ridiculoius. Fortunately for Santorum, no one will believe him and he'll get more support from his Republlican base.

Still, "blah people"? Even I could have done better. I might have told him to say he's talking about laid off democratic voting coal miners, or the people his church call sinners with a blackness to their soul. People with the last name Black?

Said politician says "you can't believe your lying ears, that's not what I said". Now even though it is on tape and what he said, not to mention what he meant, is as plain as fucking day, the media decide to report that he might not actually be a racist scumbag and we all may need to have our hearing check.

This is fucking crazy. A poll? Really? They had to take a poll to decide what is as clear as day on the tape? Welcome to Crazyasfuckistan.

You can 'see' for you're self.
You will need a sound card supporting 'what you here'
A half way decent audio editor. Audicity will do just fine.
I recorded the audio then examined it. First off, without problems of network speed, buffering and such the word is clearly black.
Slowing the audio down from, easly done; 45 to 33 1/3 ; the word is clearly BLACK.
Looking at the wave pattern at the end of the word black it appears to antunate. My conclusion for this....
1) He was turning away from the mike. 2) It was edited and 'fade' was applied to the end of the word. Yes you can do that.
Wish I could clip a picture here. I found no need to mess around further. Good old 'easy target' sad BLACK.
BLACK I tell you. BLACK.
Lyeing bastards!

Turning away from what mike?

There are two other cameras on him with their own attached shotgun mikes. I don't see one on the podium and I don't see an obvious lavalier mike.

Where is the microphone that he is turning away from during the relevant section.

I wish I could find another video shot from a diffrent camera. It would explain the 'fade' but not the transformation to blah.
I also see no podium or lavalier mike. Todays camera mikes are good enough for casual speaches.
This would have all blown away if 'Easey Target' just said whoops, sorry I ment to say the N word.
Little matter with no modification the word is clearly BLACK.

EV Sentry studio monitor speakers powered by a Crown D75a power amp. Yeah they're a little dated but the still sound awesome and I still love them

So let's be clear here, just like it is on the audio from the video. He said "black people". Period.
