Although droit de seigneur, was practiced in western cultures, mostly during the Medieval Period, other cultures embraced similar practices.

For those unfamiliar with the French term: It is an archaic law that guaranteed rulers (a king, a lord, a baron ect.) first-night, sexual privileges with any bride in his domain on her wedding night.
