So, Trump thinks he can win a "Trade War"? No one wins a "Trade War"

Certainly not the country with a high standard of living and expensive high quality products. In the 50s, I recall some Japanese products: cheap transistor radios. But when VW started importing cars, and Honda and Toyota did the same, there was a problem. Hondas and Toyotas lasted 200,000 to 250,000 miles, and cars made here lasted 80-90,000. Gradually the word got out, and guess who sells the most cars now? Why? See last sentence. Yes, the reputation of those foreign cars continues even though they are made here.

..Trump is so stupid that he thinks he can win a "Trade War." The stock market understands. Tomorrow will be worse, but that is a prediction. Who knows? Except the in the end, nobody wins a trade war. It hurts everyone. Trump wants to take the emphasis away from his mouth that caused the killings. Yes it was his mouth. But, "Stupid Trump" could cause a major recession in the U.S.A. and elsewhere. Still, I hope the market doesn't crash tomorrow. But we will see, and of course, I could be wrong. I am wrong a whole lot of the time, and not afraid to admit it. So, I never thought Trump would be where he is. And I hope I am wrong about the stock market tomorrow.

Or Japanese companies, get the Chinese to make the stuff at lower prices. Trump is much too stupid to realize what this all will mean. I sure hope I am wrong about the stock market tomorrow.

..So, can the Japanese live without American apples, that they import, or can we live without certain computer and cell phone stuff that we import? What do you think?

He has said many times that trade wars are “very easy” to win.
China will hold out as long as they need to. Trump complained last week when the raised the tariff that China’s currency was over-valued and they had not bought enough US ag products as promised.
So what did they do? Devalued their currency and ordered firms to stop buying any US farm products. And, for good measure, they explained that they felt that Trump was incapable of making a deal.

The Japanese are 100 watts, the rest of the world is 100 watts, but Trump is 4 watts. He ain't so bright. The pukes that confront him, (if there are any) will survive. But it is all in the future. We will see.

For all of Trump’s bad traits - the narcissism, racism, lying, misogyny - maybe the worst thing is that he is not smart.
Smart can be measured as innate intelligence (often measured as IQ) and acquired knowledge, gained primarily from intellectual curiosity and formal education. Trump fails on both measures. I bet he couldn’t even stay in positive numbers if he were on one of the Kids episodes of Jeopardy.
And the really dangerous thing is when a stupid person is convinced that he or she is the smartest person in the room.

The problem is that the consumers "lose" in these insane trump trade wars. Prices will go up, and we will pay for it, not China. Narcissists don't care about anything, except that they have to win no matter what, or no matter who gets hurt. This is why trump continues to play this stupid tariff game with China, and why the Americans will pay for it in the long run.

Their last breath they will defend this moron, it's what cult members do and trump knows how to keep them under his control.

Religions use the same tactics, Jehovah's Witnesses are a prime example. They follow their leaders advice no matter what.

Japan bought into our Manufacturing Companies in order to avoid Tariff's and they bought our Products, shipped them home and reverse Engineered what they thought would be sustainable in World Markets and dumped the rest on China and Korea.

Oh how we remember the Japanese Tour groups with the cameras taking pictures in our plants and Warehouses. Watched first hand how they copied the best Men's Wear and Ladies wear operation in the world. Within two years after this so called tour group hit, that business was gone off shore to Japan and now in China. Eleven plants closed all at one time.

We are at a distinct disadvantage because we are not good at long term planning and strategy and our leaders are subject to domestic political pressure.

Probably seeing if he was bluffing or someone could reason with him.

They seemed to decide today that neither was the case and pulled the trigger on the farm imports and the currency devaluation at the same time.

He won't listen to anybody so I expect his response to be totally irrational.
