Romney makes Moronism part of his big night.

AP Religion Writer= After years of avoiding direct mention of his religion, Mitt Romney will open up about his Mormon faith as he accepts the Republican nomination for president.

It's unclear just how much detail he will provide on Thursday night, the pinnacle of the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla. The former Massachusetts governor has spoken broadly in the past about the importance of prayer and belief in God, but has not discussed the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

James Lankford, said today if he tries to equate Mormonism with Christianity he'll be offended and will offend a lot of evangelical Christians.

I know a few that are planning on staying home or not voting in the presidential election because even though they hate Obama like most evangelicals, they can't pull the lever for a "cultist".

If you watched the "Romney Revealed" program on CNN (it will run again on 9/9 and 9/10) he talks at length about his belief in God and about Jesus being his savior. He talks a bit about his years as a missionary but he says zip about his Mormonism. He knows that if people start looking into Mormon beliefs like non-virgin birth, a flesh and blood God living on a planet, marriages and baptisms for dead people, underwear with protective powers, etc. etc. some are going to be scratching their heads.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not religious and never have been, so for me, nobody has cornered the market on nutty. But I know some religious people aren't to accepting of other religions.

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/04/rick-warren-fundamental-differences-between-mormons-and-christians/

WARREN: Well, the key sticking point for evangelicals and actually for many is the issue of the Trinity. Orthodox Christians, Catholic Christians, Protestant Christians, evangelical Christians and Pentecostal Christians all believe in the Trinity; that’s the historic doctrine of the church, that God is three-in-one. Not three gods; one God in Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

WARREN: Mormonism denies that. That’s a sticking point for a lot of Catholic Christians, evangelical Christians, Pentecostal Christians, because they don’t — they don’t believe that. Now they’ll use the same terminology, but they don’t believe in the historic doctrine of the Trinity. And people have tried to make it other issues. But that’s really one of the fundamental differences.
