David Jolly, Ex GOP Rep "Beat Every Single One Of Them" re: GOP

Spot on!

“I find myself today offering the same insight I did at the night of the Parkland shooting a few hours from our home in Florida, which is this: Republicans will never do anything on gun control, nothing, ever,” he said. “They won’t.”

“Think about Las Vegas. They did nothing when 500 people were injured. The Pulse nightclub, 50 killed. The question for the nation was, do we allow suspected terrorists — suspected terrorists — to buy firearms? Republicans did nothing. Parkland, they did nothing. Emanuel AME in South Carolina, nothing. Go to Sandy Hook in Connecticut, nothing. Jewish temple in Pittsburgh, nothing. The Jewish temple in San Diego, nothing. Southerland Springs, Evangelical church in Texas, nothing. Now we have Texas, now we have Ohio in the same weekend and all we get is silence,” he explained.

“I say that because if this is the issue that informs your ideology as a voter, the strength to draw in this moment is to beat Republicans, beat them. Beat every single one of them,” Jolly urged. “Even the safe ones in the House, beat them. Beat them in the Senate. Take back the Senate.”

...

“The last thing I will say, Nicolle, to my former Republican colleagues and Republican voters, if you actually think the Second Amendment was envisioned to protect gun rights of this moment of national tragedy to allow carnage with weapons of war, if you actually think that’s what the Second Amendment protected, you’re fundamentally, constitutionally ignorant,” he argued. “And if you know that’s not what it protects and you continue to do nothing, you’re worse than constitutionally ignorant, you’re a scoundrel.”

we're raising the age to 21 from 18 (talking about the age to buy semi-automatic weapons), we're doing background checks and banning bump-stocks. Then later said he was in favor of taking the guns first and worrying about due process later, when they explained to him the sheriff had been out to the kids house and had been told about his having the weapon.

Then I believe he met with someone from the NRA and backed off all that. But why did he say all that to begin with? It's almost like someone told him about the gun legislation in Washington state that the right was all up in arms over, but didn't realize he should be against that. It's really something he probably didn't care about or know anything about, as long as he's always felt safe.

trusted them. Many of these right-wingers probably secretly wish they would ban all guns for their own safety, but would never reveal that to the voters. It could have been one that secretly thought the Washington gun safety bill was a good idea. They talked to him last and he went out there thinking those were acceptable moves to make.

Yeah, we're still genteel, but look at Warren. Look at Beto. Look at Buttigieg. People are starting to really go 'back atcha' on this stuff.

It's good to see.

You know, we are living through the biggest test this republic has had since the Civil War. In fact, some might say we're refighting the Civil War. We won the last one. We'll win this one, too. You'll see.

the NRA lobby blocks the legislation, who is in control of the NRA?

Is it gun manufacturers?
Is it white nationalists and racists?
Is it Russian operatives?

It is already known that a Russian operative was working in and with the NRA. How many more are?

If Republicans are under the control of the NRA, and the NRA is under the control of Russians, then Russians are in control of the Republican party. If this is true, it would certainly explain a LOT!

I am skeptical of these right wingers suddenly finding religion, then showing up on liberal media.

I about threw my shoe at TV Nicole Wallace this evening. She said "Trump just happened to get elected". Bullshit! Trump is what Republicans have been reaching for since FDR. He did not "just happen" to get 65 million votes and the support of corporations, big donors, and every single Republican serving in Congress. Trump is the Wet Dream of the Lee Atwaters and Pat Buchanans and Rush Limbaughs and the conservative movement.

I love him and Nicolle Wallace. I respect anybody’s opinions, including those of former professional Republicans, whose positions are carefully thought out and not reflexive, as long as they are fundamentally decent and not motivated by hate. And I especially respect anyone who’s willing to listen to different viewpoints and sincerely change their views. It’s a huge bonus that these two are as anti-Trump as anyone on earth.
