The Republican governor, who was sworn into office earlier this year, announced Tuesday morning that he would be taking a number of actions in the wake of the mass shooting early Sunday in Dayton, where nine people were killed and dozens of others were injured.

DeWine made his first comments about the shooting in Dayton on Sunday just hours after the attack, but he was shouted down by attendees who called on him to "do something!"

He said that he will ask the state legislature to pass a law allowing safety protection orders, which would allow family members or loved ones to prompt the issuance of orders that would take guns away from those who pose a danger and have access to guns.

The second action that DeWine highlighted was to allow more access to state psychiatric hospitals within the state.

DeWine-Husted Campaign issues strong statement in response to calls for gun control

On the same day Governor John Kasich (R) was announcing his support for new gun control, the DeWine-Husted for Ohio campaign released a statement opposing ANY reduction of the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens, and opposing ANY bans.

And no doubt he will allow the gun show loop hole to keep going on.

BTW i have been to an Ohio gun show and Good God in Butter if you could see the
inbred yahoos @ the show and their Hillary and Obama targets for sale.

coming from De Wine and his fellow gun loving Republicans in the statehouse.

They have ignored or tabled all the sensible gun control legislation that the Democrats have proposed. Too busy taking away women’s healthcare rights, which was their first priority after DeWine was sworn in earlier this year. Now all of a sudden they care about the living humans already here? It took them long enough. And it sickens me that they will probably be crowing now about how they are addressing Ohio’s gun problem.
