I doubt that would happen now.

But GOPers are vulnerable if they don't support gun control

They tried to make him a joke, but he was and is a rock star. So is Obama. Both men could have won third terms if this was allowed.

I know they’re on recess, but they can announce that they’re working on such a bill. Outlaw assault weapons and high-capacity magazines (along with bullets that explode inside the body and do so much damage) and pass background checks with an indefinite wait time if issues arise for a specific individual. Then challenge Moscow Mitch to bring it to the floor of the Senate. If he refuses, his inaction is one more mark against him and his obstruction that prevents legislation that benefits people (versus wealthy donors or Russians).

Behind what should have been the first female president in American history was this great statesman president.

Thank you President Bill Clinton for speaking truth to the ignorance that is the minority of America and the 77,000 people responsible for helping atrocities happen.

After Sandy Hook we tried for an even stricter ban and couldn't even get all of our own senators to vote for it.

If the votes aren't there for even restoring the 94 ban, then dial it back until we have something that could actually pass.

A tiny success is worth more than a huge failure

Adam Lanza’s rifle was legal. It would have been legal in 1994 as well.

A weak ban that can pass is still better than nothing at all.

The most valuable part of the 94 ban and all the other AWBs is prohibiting sale of high capacity magazines. Let them keep what they have, anything forcing surrender of property is probably not going to pass or survive our Trump packed courts. Pass this and combine it with a permanent magazine buyback program with a very generous payout (something like $30 per high cap magazine and $200 for the big 50+ round drums). Over time, when money gets tight they'll slowly cash out more and more magazines.

Use their greed to get them to comply, and it's money well spent. Spending a couple billion to remove a hundred million high capacity magazines seems like a great use of funds to me.

Given that hundreds of millions of them are in circulation. They will never be scarce.

How could it when many types of military style semi-automatic rifles were still legal. Adam Lanza’s rifle would have been legal under the 1994 AWB - the CT AWB that said his rifle was not an assault weapon was a stronger version of the federal ban.

Even at the height of his scandals, Clinton was still a LEADER. What we have now is a TV Show clown who doesn't know the meaning of the phrase "no comment". A man-child who can be sucked into the silliest of fights with a single tweet. DUMP TRUMP 2020!!
