Farmers suffer 'body blow'/China halts purchase of U.S. Farm Products

U.S. farmers suffer 'body blow' as China slams door on farm purchases

China may also impose additional tariffs on U.S. farm products, the Ministry said, raising the barrier to future trade that further targets rural states that supported U.S. President Donald Trump in the 2016 election.

Trump said on Thursday that Beijing had not fulfilled a promise to buy large volumes of U.S. farm products and vowed to impose new tariffs on around $300 billion of Chinese goods, abruptly dimming prospects of a trade deal.

China on Monday also let the yuan weaken past the key 7-per-dollar level for the first time in more than a decade. The United States responded by designating China a currency manipulator.

American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall called the announcement from China “a body blow to thousands of farmers and ranchers who are already struggling to get by.”

the former governor of IOWA - Terry Branstad!!! I think the Dumpster picked him because he had pursued a brisk soybean relationship with China in years past including at least one visit to the state by Xi.

What's a little pain now compared to the wonderful profits you will get in the future?
You just have to wait a little bit longer and your grandchildren will be rich!

Missouri reaches $4.4 billion trade agreement with China

OCT 24, 2011

Missouri will sell around $4.4 billion worth of agricultural products to China, in a trade agreement announced today by Governor Jay Nixon (D).

Speaking to reporters via conference call from Beijing, Nixon said exports from Missouri will increase by more than a billion dollars between 2012 and 2014.

“Increasing our exports is a critical means of creating Missouri jobs and growing our economy at home," Nixon said. "This agreement is another important step in that direction.”

Nixon also says the recent failure of Missouri lawmakers to pass air cargo hub tax credits did not jeopardize the new trade agreement.

“We are always looking for more alternative ways to export Missouri products, (and it) would’ve been nice to have that additional avenue," Nixon said. "The topic came up a couple of times only, but not as the centerpiece of any of the agreements we were involved with.”

Collin Peterson (D) will give his first ever in years,Town Hall tomorrow at the same venue.

The Cash cropper who does not run at least 3-4 thousand acres is being forced out by the Hedgefund backed mega farms.
