Anyone else have a foreboding feeling?

Last edited Wed Aug 7, 2019, 06:53 PM - Edit history (1)

I don't know if it's due to all that tragic things that have happened, or is it possible that something else is brewing.

There is a tension in the air. The way people are looking at each other. Everyone doing their best to avoid eye contact.

It's spooky strange. Anybody else seeing or feeling it?

Add: it could be because we are voting here in Tucson to become a recognized "Sanctuary"city

Doing so just gives him power over you. He dosent care, so you end up giving up your joy for what?

Mentally flip him off and enjoy your blessings.

from PTSD you can interpret that anyway you choose. But people running for their lives in NY city after hearing a motorcycle backfire thinking they are gun shots, we are a people in mental anguish. No way to live in fear.

My choice is to be an effective agent of change, and not let someone control my life be their words.

Somehow, we crossed a threshold this week. Can't put my finger on it but between the violence and the big immigration "round-up" in MS and no doubt more to come...there's a nasty feeling happening.

I keep thinking about the paralells in Germany 1938, wonder if the dates match up anywhere... Apparently Kristallnaut (sp?) happened in November. Maybe we won't even make it to the election, civil war breaks out a year before...no impeachment, no congress (Half of them will be rounded up too...esp the 4 congresswomen with targets on their backs already.)

I remember thinking on election night that at least I lived in a pretty remote area, that mayyyyybe I'd be able to get through this presidency like Bush's, (really pissed but relatively unaffected directly) now, I fear for my own safety in a way I never have... how dare I be a Liberal and support Gay rights? How dare I have a lesbian daughter... How dare I .... (fill in the ANTIFA blanks)
I live close to Nevada, total MAGA Counrty rednecks with LOTS of guns. Believe me when I say I worry about having any distinguishing clothes or even a sticker on my car when I drive through Carson City or Reno....

it comes and goes, there have been other seeming inflection points.

I feel what you are feeling, but I have felt it almost a dozen times since election night 2016.

He isn't going away, his lunatic base only digs in deeper the more horrible it gets, and a BIG portion of the "middle" covers their ears and screams BOTH SIDES ARE THE SAME!

It is 95% out of our hands until November 2020. We just have to keep our heads above water until then, and increasingly figure out how we can help the cause and collectively get out to the polls and kick republican asses, across the board.

Then understand we can never again, not take EVERY election seriously.

But what I'm also picking up on is people's fear.

I think the message that has finally hit home is this: IT CAN HAPPEN HERE, TOO. And that's what I think I'm sensing. People have finally had their blinders ripped from their faces. Yes, big cities have been the sites of gun violence, but increasingly, it's small towns, out-of-the-way places, cricket-chirping USA. The naivete or complacency of "It can't happen here," is being shattered and people are starting to digest that. And their frightened.

for our party and Trump-McConnell's.

Not for trumpsters gone briefly silent; they'll bounce back as always.
Not for those on the left too wired to reject Democrats to have passion left over for Republicans.

But for some of those Democrats, other liberals, and moderate conservatives who want to support what is right but have been weakened by the blizzard of lies and false equivalencies with the right. This may be a defining day that helps some see through to the truth and find their commitment.

And the same for wobbly conservatives who've been upset about what's happening on the right and have been wondering if they could vote for Trump again.

Many of our candidates have spoken very well today and are important parts of it. VP Biden's my favorite inspiration for reminding us again that this election is about the soul of America:

"We have to show who we are. We choose hope over fear, we choose science over fiction, we choose unity over division, and yes, we choose truth over lies."

but we are not living in the shadows of tRump, we at least have peace of mind, but we have compassion for those who are living in this fear.

Again this is their way of controlling the masses through fear. Fucking sickening.

But here's something to think about...

Trump will go back to campaigning soon. I look forward to seeing how he handles the rallies. What can he possibly say?. Will he fire up his base again with racist remarks. And if he does, will that be the first shot in a civil war?

But sometime around 1976, I decided to call it "healthy paranoia" instead of "holy shit! if things kept going this way, I'll be beaten to death in a concentration camp by fascists before I retire!"

You can pick your friends, and you can pick your nose, but you can't pick the objective conditions that prevail during your lifetime
