Mother of Wallmart shooter called authorities weeks before shooting saying her son was

purchasing an AK type weapon and she didn't feel he was mature enough to own one. The authority told her there was nothing he could do as her son was of legal age. She did not suspect he would do anything illegal with it and did not give her name or her son's. CNN

Not sure if the authority she called was the police. And yes. I'm not blaming anyone. applegrove Aug 2019 #2

But it does show that an assault weapon ban would help.

The fault lies with Congress, actually at the feet of about a dozen GOP members who have made an unholy alliance with FOX and the NRA.

Some folks don’t seem to get that.

Or they go to “how will you confiscate them?”

The answer to that is “over time”. First, most people are going to want to comply with the law. But, second, these people aren’t going to be showing up at the shooting range with illegal guns, and if they commit a traffic violation or have some other law enforcement contact with these things in plain view, then they will have a bigger problem.

But what you also won’t have, and what seems the common pattern, is someone deciding to engage in mass murder walking into a gun shop and purchasing semi auto weapons. You also wasn’t have kids taking them out of the family gun safe.
