Michigan woman points AR-15 at neighbor, family.

ALLEN PARK, Mich. - A woman believed to be armed is now in custody after a standoff with Allen Park police.

Residents living along Luana Avenue between Ecorse Road and Philomene Street were ordered to stay inside while police worked to end the standoff Wednesday.

The brother of the woman believed to be involved in the standoff said the woman has "bad anxiety."

Police said the situation began when the woman allegedly aimed an AR-15-style weapon at a young mother across the street and accused the mother of stealing her purse.

The mother and her children retreated to their basement. The woman's brother said she has mental health issues and often accuses people of stealing things from her.

She just gets a little crazy every once in a while. But it's ok for her to have an AR 15. Mind boggling. They know she's off her rocker and nobody thinks to disarm her. What could possibly go wrong?

why her brother would not keep her from getting an "AR-15 style weapon." Or any gun for that matter.

...but that we have insane gun laws and gun access in the country. The real issue is that so many people who are full of rage and hate have unfettered access to guns, and that our insane gun laws enable them to do what they want -- and most of the hate-filled are not clinically mentally ill.

Even if you call the local authorities, they'll just tell you there's nothing they can do until they actually commit a crime. Heck, some of them are A-OK with all this.

I just had a WTF moment when the brother said they'd known she had such problems. A red flag law might have kept this particular incident from happening. I wonder if the police have taken her gun, or if they are even allowed to do so there.

Get rid of AR (assault) rifles. A person with "MENTAL ISSUES" HAS NO BUSINESS OWNING A GUN.

LOCK HER UP. Mark my words, this violent situation with the gun, will happen again.

AR doesn't stand for assault rifle. It stands for Armalite, the original manufacturer of the AR-15, adopted by the military as the M-16.

The gun-crazies use this misinformation as evidence that we liberals don't know anything about guns. That proves (in what I will laughingly refer to as their minds) that we have don't any business weighing in on the gun debate. As if knowing anything about guns beyond how quickly they can kill people is that important.

I'm just saying, the gun-fuckers seem to think that ignorance of nomenclature disqualifies the speaker from weighing in on gun control, and the staggering devastation caused by the lack of it.

It's how they think. When they bother to think at all...

An elderly woman who lives alone, who truly believes her house is constantly broken into and her stuff gets moved around. She told me and my husband that they had taken her lamp and replaced it with an identical one that was rusty. That her food gets replaced by food that has gone off.

It’s very sad, but we live in the UK, so we can be assured she isn’t armed, so we can just help her.

She has paranoid ideations.

She should not have a BB gun, much less a MSSA.
