Eastwood is pretty damn smart for plugging his latest movie "Trouble With The Curve" 3 weeks before

it opens at the most boring political convention in the history of televised Republican party conventions.

Love him or hate him, Eastwood is pretty savvy for getting free air time with a microphone at center stage at the most expensive public venue being held in America today.
And it isn't going to cost him 1 thin dime.
Hell, the GOP is probably even paying for airfare and a hotel room for Eastwood to stay at.

Unfortunately for the Republican party, most people have already tuned out from watching their convention.
A poll released on Monday of Republicans resulted in 70% of them saying they were going to skip watching this year's GOP convention.

It says a lot that ABC is airing a pre-season football game tonight instead of the last night of the Republican's "Convention of Hate".

I think the ratings have been abysmal for this GOP convention, and that's even before the official tv ratings come out.
It's been like watching reruns of the 2004 or 2008 Republican convention for them, so why bother?
I think that is what a lot of Americans thought it would be, and so they didn't bother to tune in.

In February, Eastwood did a commercial that was shown at half-time of the Super Bowl and that game had an audience of more than a billion people.
Compare that to tonight's audience, where if there are 3 million viewers tuning in long enough to see what their "Mystery Guest" is going to say, I think they should consider that a "grand slam, gran torino-style" success of sorts.

Hopefully, at one point in his speech, Eastwood will turn to Romney and say, "Do you feel lucky, punk? Well, do ya?"
But, I know that probably won't happen because it would just be too damned honest.
Because Romney is a punk.
Granted, he's a rich punk, but he's a punk all the same.

I just think it is kind of hokey that the Republicans had to go out and recruit an actual star to be at their convention only because their own presidential candidate is so mundane that he can't even capture the attention of little kittehs for longer than 2 minutes.
Listening to Romney speak is more boring than playing with a ball of yarn.

I think it is a huge mistake for the GOP to go out and get a bigger star than Romney on the last night of their convention.
To be honest, I'd actually cross the street against the light to get Clint Eastwood's autograph.
At least he has a personality.

Romney has one too, but he's just doesn't seem all that interesting to me.
His personality is more like a head of cabbage.

...if I ran a television network, I'd insist on showing the Democratic and Republican conventions in their entirety. Fair play, equal time, and all that.

i fear that means they are going to hold their noses and vote republican with their eyes closed.
i would rather they confront the lies and hatred being spewed at them and recognize the party for what it is.
informed voters don't vote against themselves and they don't vote for candidates who openly despise them.
